An 03a3 I am considering, want to see what you think?

I would really like an '03 Springfield. Problem is I don't know the first thing about them. I wouldn't want to get taken on one. I'm not really sure what a good fair price for a decent shooter grade rifle is?
I'll watch this one with interest......

that looks to be in a bit better shape than my Winchester made one.
airc I gave 600$ ish for mine, it shoots though.
except I just moved my rear sight settings fiddling about with it comparing it to this one, guess I'm just gonna have to go shoot it to get it back in place now.

OK ..I'll be a pain..

Nice pictures..little info that would determine price..

Nice piece...good points:
1. Correct stock..although a Keystone replacement ..not built from a de-mil.
2. Good condition

She's a repark...Sight would be blue/black as would the bands, trigger guard, bayonet lug.

What is the barrel date ?

What are the markings on the bolt and related parts?

Markings on the front sights, bands, trigger guard, bayonet lug and stock besides the upside own "K"?

Is it two grouve or four grouve

These would drive the price..

She's a keeper and a good one...of course depending on the asking price..Dan the Pain, KIA (Know it All)..;)

2. Good condition

What is the barrel date ? 6-44

What are the markings on the bolt and related parts?

Markings on the front sights, bands, trigger guard, bayonet lug and stock besides the upside own "K"? All metal parts are marked "R"

Is it two grouve or four grouve, I will find out, muzzle is 1, throat is 2.

These would drive the price..

Well lets look at it from a parts perspective...I recently purchased the same stock with hand guard for $170.00..$200 would have been fair,
a dealer just sold me a "sporter" 03a3 ..the only thing sporterized about it was that it was put in a sporter stock..all parts were correct..as was the finish..price $350.00..
additional correctly marked and finish hardware ..$125.00...total price of rebuild with replacement Keystone "C" stock (not issued ..no proof stamps)...$645.00

If it had the original straight grip stock with correct proofs and the blued hardware correctly marked...$750-$900. depending on condition

If it had the keystone stock proofed..possibly $900-$1100.

Lately these are all over the place price wise...I have had better luck buying 1903's with Lyman 48 sights in early "C" stocks ...I paid $550.00 ea. for the last three ..mostly because people considered them ruined by the installation of the sights..(receivers tapped and stocks cut)...

But if you can pick that up for a fair price and replace the front sight with a Lyman 17 ($100.00)..you will have a great cast bullet shooter..

PS I am sure it's a 2 grouve..

I would say in todays market with limited availability..that is a fair price..especially if you could get the original stock..in good condition with proofs it could be worth $200.00

The Keystone stocks were used as field replacements and on the some 03A4 Snipers...the Keystone stocks although "C" stocks were quite different than the original "S" "C" stocks..
they are heavier , fatter and the bevel on the bottom of the pistol grip is flatter..if you draw a line from the bottom of the pistol grip towards the butt it ends up at the top of the butt plate..
on an early one it ends up half way between the butt and the receiver along the top of the butt stock..the grip is fatter as are the sides of the stock...it is often referred to as the "slab sided stock"..there are several other small differences but minor...some people prefer one over the other as for feel..for me all three types shoot the same ..the straight, semi pistol (scant) and "c" stocks

Presently there is as much as a 100% difference in price between the early and late "C" stocks...

IMO.. if you have the jingle pick it up with or with out the original stock and be happy..Dan

The more I read about these the more sad I get about the 11/43 Remington 03A3 that bubba hacked the stock off of and I gave $125 for it ........ The stock is even correct matching numbers and penciled in the hand guard ......
So if you want to unload that stock ........

He has the original stock but I prefer the c stock. He is asking $800.

I don't know much about these rifles, but $800.00 seems fair.
The one pictured looks comparable to one I'd seen for $900.00 about a month ago.
I didn't have the $900.00 so it went home with somebody else.
You could always offer the seller $750.00 with a smile. :D
