There is an article in the latest Fouling Shot by an Italian rifleman, that is both very interesting and informative. Tells about his rifles, mostly milsurps, government regulations, limited shooting potential,
cost factors, availability of components etc, etc. etc. Sure makes me glad I live in the US of A. Makes me even more
glad that I live in a state like Nebraska, instead of in New York where I was born.

I met a couple guys while hunting a state Park. One guy was from Italy and we got to talking about those issues.

He basically said you had to be very well off or connected to own firearms in Italy.

He was unable to procure an air rifle and almost got arrested over the paperwork nightmare.

He did get a shot a deer but, missed. The 870 slug gun they had was so dry & full of grit it wouldn't operate. I showed them how to field strip, clean, & lubed it. They were amazed, said it was like new again.

Makes me extremely greatful to be in a mostly free state. Makes me sad there are places like that in USA were I'd be a felon because, of the ammo, magazines, & my gun. I'm cutoff from some family because I can't get to them legally.

I believe the framers of our Constitution would not be pleased with today's America.

I spend A LOT of time in the Mojave Desert, sometimes even straying into Death Valley. DV has a large number of European tourists, and among the things you notice after spending some time around them is their sense of space. The wide-open expanses seen while looking across Panamint Valley or the main Valley from a high point is very surreal to them. It is entirely outside their experience. To them, space = freedom. Many of us here have roots that reach back into Europe or Asia, but the American mindset is VERY different from that of much of the rest of the world. I am not ashamed to say that I am blessed to live in a wonderful nation, but I am concerned that its leaders are trying to turn it into a third-world clusterBLANK.
