Barely restrained myself

Two MGM Contender barrels popped up. The first was a 256 Maximum (357 Max parent case) and the second was a 25-35.... Heh, heh, heh, gurgle....

But in the end, I am still on track to buy QuickLoad and start working with the 41 Mag and the 414 Supermag... As much as I like extreme gun porn (red blooded 'Murican he-men love steel), I must restrict myself to what I have and am not presently using...

Besides, the starting price was what Ed's TCs lists, so if I really want one, I can call Ed and order one...

I know what you mean. I'm about .000032" away from punching the "Place Order" button on a benchtop mill, but I'm stuck on that gurgle part. Prolly stash half the money back until tax time. New baby should give enough tax credit this year for leftovers to upgrade a level or two anyway...don't tell her mother....

Tell me about the 414 Supermag... We have a Dan Wesson, couple Contenders and a Glenfield 30A in 414.

Tell me about the 414 Supermag...

It was a dark and stormy night, suddenly, a shot rang out. It was the butler...

I used Lil-Gun with a 210gr XTP, not the maximum load, but a chronographed 2,000fps from a 16" Contender...

I asked Western for some CB loads. Their reply:

Since we do not have any specific lab tested data on this caliber, we can provide you with some guideline, based on calculations and information from other sources.

NOTES:

It’ important to note that SAFETY is our prime concern therefore we strongly recommend.

1. ALWAYS BEGIN LOADING AT THE RECOMMENDED MINIMUM “START” LOAD and develop loads in 2% increments towards the MAXIMUM load.

2. CAUTION: Beware of double charging if the loading density is below 50% of the available volume.

Example: Most Handgun caliber/powder combinations

Thank you ! We have loaded 1680, H110, 4198 and 5744 . Have not tried cast under 265 as that is why we went 414 SM. 41 mag can do all those light weight slugs very well.
Did you do any ream work on the "lead" area so your loaded rounds would chamber without having to deep seat ? We have resized noses so they were .001+ over bore but could be seated as should or even out to the 1st groove.

No reaming yet, I have a dummy 414 here with a 220gr SAECO TCGC 415, OAL about 1.945, GCd bullet is @ .741, seat depth is @ .400. Remaining case volume 1.85 - 1.90 CC. I'd rather get a new mould done with a longer nose.... Though I did snag an RCBS 260gr 41 PB mould...

The desire for more volume leads to the conundrum of using it for less than full loads... The 41 Mag is a fun gun. The 414 can be a handfull of power... Anyways, the 1st of January is Monday, must have some self control and budget things...

41 Mag - 23", 414 SM - 16", 410610, 412263, SAECO 415... Unfortunately, NEI is defunct, unless someone buys it...
