I haven't used any of these enhancement dies to improve 22 LR performance. A few years ago I began using the CCI 'SGB' ammo in my 22s, and I noticed an uptick in stopping power on the ground squirrels I hit with it. I'm not sure that the Mini Mag HP ammo expands, but that little flat that surrounds the HP likely has similar effect to the SGB form (Small Game Bullet).

I don't remember exactly when I first encountered the CCI SGB but I do remember that it was impressive.
IMO, a flat point, lead 22 bullet is far superior to a RN or HP.

Going to have to find some of that SGB ammo. Haven't squirrel hunted much for a while, but an improvement in terminal performance is a good thing.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
I had made a couple FN dies, used with a file or sharp nippers, to FN 22 ammo. Kills much better with no loss in accuracy if you do it right.

I haven’t seen any CCI SGB ammo offered for sale recently (at least not at prices I would pay) but it may show up at gun shows or local gun shops.

After acquiring a Waltz die, I stopped looking for CCI SGB ammo and I stuck with the standard velocity stuff. I add flat points to the ammo I will use for pest control or cheap ammo that shoots better after being slightly swaged.

That flat-pointing die video that CW posted looks like a winner and may be the Waltz Die replacement if it’s available.

I don't know if this is still good contact info but:

Thats what I have.

I sent a friend in Ohio but no one answered the door. No one answers or replies to the number.

I have another friend who is going to make a few visits this summer to attempt contact.

I believe the gentle man is retired.

The man making my die is in Michigan and making these dies. Because he couldn't get a Waltz die.

I got a die set from Mr. Waltz about 5 weeks ago. Called the number, he answered, sent him a MO and got the set pretty quickly. I am still playing with it, but I am very impressed with 40 gr. CCI Blazers that have been modified. My old Kimber 82 really loves them.

Many of the elderly I know will not answer the door to a stranger and if they do not recognize the area code or phone number, figure it is just a robo call. I read no indications in this thread that a letter was sent to the individual as primary contact. Perhaps the stranger knocking on the door is not a good way to make a cold contact.

^^^^That's what voicemail is for. I don't answer the phone/door, if I don't recognize the number/individual. The other day the hospital called to schedule Cindy for a routine yearly test. BRMC didn't come up so we didn't answer. The scheduler left a VM and she called them right back. Can't get in trouble if you don't answer.

Wow, this is the wrong time of year for cabin fever. I did not see any mention of leaving a voice mail. I do not see anything saying that he was actually running a public business at his house. Many cities have codes about that kind of thing. Sorry to even suggest that there could be any valid reason he was not responding. Sheesh!
