Boot repair

Hip boot repair to be more specific. Rubber, Lacrosse brand, with a porous cloth liner. Problem is the liners have separated from the rubber on the inside, but still intact. I've worn this model of boot for many years, and have in the past just torn the liners out. Then it puts rubber against whatever clothing I'm wearing and is hot and clings. I'm wondering if there is a spray or brush on type adhesive, anyone is aware of, that would allow me to re-glue the liners in place, before they get torn up. Either a brush on or spray on would work for application and there is plenty of room to work. Any ideas?

Might try some of the spray-on that is used for headliners/upholstery. Seems to stay flexible. Most likely problem is getting liner back in. Stuff I've used is contact type so once in place it doesn't move much. Any wrinkles would hurt.

You might consider Elmer's "Craft Bond" liquid fabric and paper glue. Wife uses it for decorating clothing that goes thru the washer and holds well.

Both good ideas guys, thanks. My wife probably has some of the "Craft Bond" so a win win.

If the boots are actually vinyl instead of vulcanized or butyl rubber there are very few adhesives that will work, but they do exist.

The wife has some fabric glue like Ric suggested, so I’m gonna try that first.

Ian,
Real rubber, Lacrosse “ Outrigger” model boots, so I can patch them. Vinyl boots are lucky to make a day around the beaver ponds here. Raspberry and wild rose thorns make pretty short work of them.

Ric,
Good tip. Just got through "painting the fabric glue on with a fine hair parts cleaning brush. Worked like a charm, and bled through the porous fabric just right. Wife had a brand new 8 oz. bottle, with directions to keep it if I get any "Beaver Junk" in it. LOL Aint her first rodeo! LOL
