Burial at sea

This is a mass burial at sea, on the USS Intrepid in 1944 following a kamikaze attack. I've never seen this photo, and I figure most of you probably haven't either. I posted so people can see, and remember the incredible sacrifices made on our behalf.

I too remember that first Thanksgiving and Christmas away from Home. Very Sad, Thank the Good Lord the U. S. Navy knows how to FEED it's Sailors

Yep, so good that the best friend I ever had -- God rest his soul -- spent 25 years in the Navy.
Air Force food was nothing to get excited about, but it was never in short supply.

Holiday meals were almost up to the level of "Fit for human consumption" in the USMC...almost. :sigh:

I had no complaint My first Holiday's with any meals when I was in the U.S. Navy in the early 1970's.
