Was in the area so stopped at Cabella's just to brouse. That's all I did----brouse. I always check out the
milsurps in the used racks. Today was really sticker shock! Most of the milsurps in poor to fair quality were
priced in the 500.00+ bracket. Some of the Mosins were close to 300.00. An end of war 6.5 Jap, that was
in very poor (use only as a pry bar) was low 400.00. One very nice SMLE 303, was 800.00. A Swed carbine
in fair to good condition was about 700.00. Some various 8x57's in fair to good (maybe) condition were all priced in the 550.00 bracket. Win Mosins in fair shape were also in the 550. bracket. Only the SMLE would be
of collector condition.
I cant help but wonder if there are people out there willing to put those kinds of dollars into these weapon that were selling less than 10 years ago for less than 1/4 the asking price. You can buy a brand new modern rifle
on sale today for about 300.00 that out of the box will shoot at or near MOA. Am glad I have my milsurps that
I bought when I could afford them.
