Well as some of you know my father past away a week ago. While we were gone for that there was a storm and it ripped off the gutter on the back side of the house. It is too far up for me to even try to fix. I am not a skinny person. We have someone coming next week to do that.
Now last might I noticed it was getting hot in the house. Went and checked and the air said it was on. But was blowing warm air. The old lady said she heard a buzzing next to the house earlier in the day. So I went outside and hear it. As I walked around the house I see a little smoke coming out of the condenser. I yanked the disconnect. Well the fan motor was locked up and smoking.
So this AM I went to a local hvac supply house to see about a motor. of coarse they don't have it. But will tomorrow. I ask for the price. $239!!!!!!!!!! I told them there is no way that motor cost that much. So I pulled it up on my phone and showed them Grainger had it for $90 and could they match that. They almost called me a liar and there was no way it cost that. So I show them the phone and show them it is the exact same motor. They said sorry and I went to grainger to get it. Sad part is I know the owner of the company. I am going to call him to tell him what happened to see if they might actually gave me the wrong price or what. \\
So I got the motor mounted and was going to replace the capacitor as the motor had a different rating for it. The cap that was called for was not the style in the ac unit. The one in the ac unit is a dual run cap. I think it starts both the fan and compressor. So now I have to figure out if I can use the one in the ac unit now. That was the other reason for contacting the friend at the supply house.
Anyway, I hope since I had 3 different problems it is over with. I firmly believe in the #3 things.
