Case conversions

Is there a chart that tells what case can be converted to what?
Was thinking ( I know Bad,Bad)about trying to make 7.35 Carcano cases.
Just something to try to keep me busy during this crappy shutdown.
Don't need them but something to do to keep mind active and hands busy.

The Manual for Cartridge Conversion say's to make 7.35 Carcano cases from 6.5Xx54 Mannlicher Schoenauer cases, probably not an easy solution at this time.

I once almost bought a rifle chambered in 6.5x53mmR (.256 Mannlicher). I researched making brass for one of these, it can be made with .303 British brass using 6.5x54mm MS dies.

So if you were really, really, really bored. You could make some 7.35 Carcano out of .303, turn down the rim, and cut an extractor groove.

which can be done with a drill and some files.............. eventually.
it took me an entire weekend to turn 50 454 casull cases into 50 450 express cases, making sure I had a way to fit them in a shell holder took a bit more effort.

You can make a mind bending variety of cartridges from all manor of cases. I made 44-40 from 303 British once. Key word there is once, that will never happen again. :(

The 6.5×52 Carcano shares it's rim with more or less the 35 Rem .
The 25,30,32 Rem are just a little under sized . RCBS probably still has a set of 6.5-35 Rem dies on the shelf . I had understood the 7.35 was basically a neck up of the 6.5 , I bought 20 rounds once for the clips . With this you can place an order with Graffs for the 30 Rim , check Midway for some new PPU that's correct , or if you really want to work for it you can turn the rims off 30-30 cut an extractor groove and FL size , trim as needed .

The 7.7 Japanese is the one that is the rimless 303 . It's closer to a loose chambered 8×57 if you can stand the head bulge aesthetic .

If it wasn’t for the 7.7x58mm, I wouldn’t be reloading and casting. It’s pretty easy to make though. However it seemed pretty daunting when I first started.

First you hack off most of the neck from a 30-06, shove it up into the sizing die and trim. It’s like half way between a .308 and a 30-06, with a sloppy chamber, and an almost 7.92mm sized bullet.

I work with a young man who has an 1871/84 Mauser in 43 Mauser. He is getting into casting and reloading just so that he can feed this rifle. He needs brass for it. I looked up how to form it. It seems most people take one of the belted magnums, file or turn off the belt, leave a very small rim, trim to length and then fire form with cream of wheat. It sounds like fun! But I’m glad it’s his fun project.

Joshua,
The 45/90 case works great for the 71/84 Mauser.
I have 2 of them and after paying $3.75 each for 71/84 cases went looking for an
alternative.
Found that the 45/90 cases worked great after sizing. They are a little short but work.

I have made many 7.7 Jap from mil .30-06. The book for cartridge conversions is awesome! I have referenced it a lot.

in the "make cases" category, I have a few... 30 and 357 Herret and 43 Spanish Rolling Block (2x). I am looking at a cpl others. I bought the Handloaders conversion manual so I know what I am getting into if I look at something new.

As an aside, I am shocked at how many diff things the 303 British can be turned into!
