Hello everyone,

My name is David Reiss and I am the membership director for the Cast Bullet Association. We are an organization of approximately 1600 members worldwide, with of course the vast majority of our members in the U.S.. You can visit or website at www.castbulletassoc.org. (which is currently being remodeled and updated, it should be completed soon, however the old site is still up and running). for more info. As a benefit of being a member you receive our bi-monthly magazine, The Fouling Shot and can participate in our regional matches which include everything from benchrest rifle & handgun matches to military & sporter freehand matches and everything inbetween. We even have postal matches you can participate in from your home range and mail in your target. Below is our charter. I hope to hear from you soon & look forward to you joining our organization.

If you will let me know I will send you a free digital copy of The Fouling Shot.

The Cast Bullet Association's Nature and Purpose

The Cast Bullet Association is an organization of shooters who enjoy shooting cast lead bullets in rifles and handguns for competition, hunting, or informal target shooting. The Association's central purpose is to help shooters enjoy cast bullet shooting by:

1) Stimulating & encouraging experiments in casting & handloading cast
bullets that will improve the design, accuracy & effectiveness of the
ammunition & increase the satisfaction & enjoyment of shooters.

2) Provide well-regulated shooting competition programs including postal matches that can be shot on the shooter's home range for those who would like to test their handloading & shooting cast bullet skills against others.

3) Publishing an official journal, The Fouling Shot, to serve as a forum for the exchange of ideas, to report on the results of experiments, experiences, and competitions with cast bullets; and to report all affairs of the association to the membership.

4) Conducting the association's affairs in a manner which presents a favorable impression of the private ownership of firearms to the general public & to otherwise support the citizen's right to keep & bear arms.

I do wish you and the CBA all the success in the world. I was a member for many years. I am especially pleased to see the CBA updating their website, and especially to see you reaching out to shooters on other boards.

I belonged years ago and somehow let membership slide. Still have and prize my copies of "The Fouling Shot". I will renew my membership shortly, thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Chris and 358156 hp, please rejoin. We are getting bigger and better everyday. The Fouling Shot has really improved and gotten bigger. The new issue is coming out in about a week. Please contact me if you wish to join.

One feature that was not mentioned is the option of getting the "hard copy" by mail, or the digital copy subscription. The digital copy gets the member a discount on the membership since there is no postage involved. And for foreign members, it is a lot faster. If you just want to look and see what it is, go to the web site and you will be able to find a thread where interested parties can contact the CBA president and he can email the digital copy Free, and promises no follow up, or hassle if you do not join. It costs nothing to take a look.

Thanks for the offer, I've done that and John Alexander emailed a copy of Journal #242 August/September 2016. I've sure missed the Fouling Shot!

I've tried joining the CBA twice with no luck at all. Several years ago (pre internet) I filled out an application form and mailed a check. Never heard from them, check never hit my bank either just nothing. A few years after that I signed up online and mailed a check. This time the check cleared my bank but I'm still waiting to hear from them or see a copy of the Fouling Shot. I gave up, the Fouling Shot was my reason in joining but I can't convince myself it's worth strike three.

Rick, I will promise you there will be no strike 3. I don't doubt for a minute that you had these issues. A few years ago we had two membership directors back to back that were fired for not doing there job. Since then we have straightened up our act. I will email you direct if you join and will try and make it up to you in some way. My phone number as is our president and all directors for that matter on the website. So we are only a phone call from correct any issues. Feel free to call me anytime.

Info update: We are currently in the process of creating a new website which should be finished soon. However in the meantime the old site is up & running.

I gotta say--CBA does publish contact addresses and phone numbers for their leadership folks, right there on the website. Pretty open & above-board gesture right there.

We are an organization of members. We invite them to make their ideas know to the board to let us know how we're doing and what we can do better. Articles in The Fouling Shot come from our membership, which we encourage.

9.3X62AL, thank you for the complement.

I have been reading all the posts from members about their experiences in starting to cast with or without mentors. They reminded me how valuable the CBA is to both new & old members. Even with my long history of casting, I learn something new from CBA forum posts & The Fouling Shot every time I receive my new issue. I can't stress enough, if you are serious about casting, then please join the CBA.

The CBA has been promoting & sanctioning matches for more than 40 years and hold all the National Match records. Every issue of The Fouling Shot publishes the results of local matches from around the country. These results show you what is being used and what helps to win matches. Information such as gun used, barrel, sights, complete load composition & more goes further to get you on the right track than anything I can think of.

I have belonged to all types of shooting organizations and shot in many types of matches, but I have never been part of an organization that has more to offer both the novice and expert. Join the CBA and I know you won't be disappointed.

I got logged in! I'd suggest we give Mike some time to get things squared away. It kind of made my head hurt trying to understand everything. All recent dates are in Sept, probably when the site designer started working on the first version.
