Custom Plinking load.

I’m wanting two loads.

1) Read LIGHT Cat sneeze.
I have loaded these before in other calibers but for the first time today in the 32.
I used 48g lead balls sized 314 I also Powder coated them.
I charged a 32 long case with 2g Red Dot.

I fired the first and was surprised the powder didn’t ignite!! Just the primer and it stuck the ball 1” into the barrel with a lil clump of powder.
I loaded second, this time barrel up and banged the cyl with a fist to move powder to the primer. Slowly lowered muzzle and fired normally.

I’m assuming this might be better with a ACP or S&W short case.

Has anyone use this kinda load before?
I’m hoping for a very close, quiet & accurate grouse load.

2) Bird shot/ Snake load. This time in a 327 case for volume.
I’ll try 2g Red dot again. (Bullseye is also possibility) on top
Of powder, a Gas check and fill to bottom of another 48g .314 ball that gets crimped in place.
I have done powder GC case full of shot and second GC to hold shot in then crimped in 45 Colt years ago. Do not remember the lod but it worked fine.

All help appreciated.

length and powder coat got you.
use the spud from your 30 carbine dies to finish pushing the ball in the case.
if you decide to leave it long, try titegroup or clays in place of the red-dot.

Titegroup and a light roll-crimp will do it without needing to deep-seat the ball. The big flakes have too little surface area and too much thermal mass per grain of weight. Bullseye might do it too. A tiny fluffy tuft of Dacron with just enough loft to keep some spring pressure between powder column and ball helped all my Aloxed roundball loads.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Yeah, 32 long or even 32 S+W brass instead of 327, and I'd forget PC unless it leads. I've used Bullseye and 000 buckshot, believe I used BE powder, no lube. Wasn't anything to brag on and I only had about 20 buckshot, so that was that.

32ACP has been a lot more trouble than it was worth for me in my 32's. Maybe in a single action it's better but it stinks in other actions.

Yea I shouldn’t have said plinker. It’s more a seldom used but super useful close in hunting load.
Powder coat is quick easy and eliminates Need for lube or lead.
