Did some trading today

A friend up the road and I have been talking trade via text and phone calls. Social distancing thing. So we got together today as the weather is getting into the 50's. Pretty nice. Got a table out and a blanket with the garage doors open. So it took about three hours but I ended up with a Colt Pocket Positive in 32 S&W, a New Ruger SP 101 327 Mag 4 inch & adjustable sites, a new Ruger Bearcat 22 and a Remington model 25 in 25-20. My friend ended up with a trade of about equal value. I believe he got a little better deal, but only slightly. Well on second though, I did get 450 rounds of 327 & 32 H&R ammo, so might be even up. Anyway different and new stuff to mess with.
I've been wanting the Remington pump in 25-20 for quite sometime, love the slim little pumps. it's probably about a 70% gun, but tight. The 32's were high on the list of wants, with the Colt being of more interest. I was not aware that I was interested in a the Bear Cat but the birds head grip was something I liked in my hand, and a person can't have enough 22 pistols.
He also has a Savage 23D in 22 Hornet in 96% plus that I just could not pry out of his safe. I'll get someday,

The bluing has a little old rust on the barrel and a small amount on the cylinder, grips are good and it looks like it not been fired much.

Yeah the little Colt and the Remington were the one's I was after, the Rugers kinda just fell in place. They will have a good home though.

I'd have been after the 327 and that Remington for sure.
probably would have feigned dis interest in the Colt to get him off track.

I beat around the bush pretty good, my father and Mexican brother would have been proud. I really have to keep a grip on myself as I get like a kid in a candy store. I wanted the Remington first and the Colt was a desire that I kept in check.
I've been looking at/for a 327 for a while also. 4 inch was as short as I wanted with that little hottie. Adjustable site and double action is a big plus. But that 4" adjustable site SP 101 follows Ruger's tradition of making one of the ugliest double actions on the market. But I can live with that. looks like fun. The Bear Cat just came along for the ride.
He had a Colt 1917 or New Service in 455 Webley with some Mastodon Ivory grips. Grips looked out of place on such an ugly revolver. I've got that one lined up as well as the 23D 22 Hornet. Next time. Maybe. I've got a 1950, 22-4 45 ACP, so I'm not in to much of a hurry for the 455.

I like the old Colt Pocket Positive too, mine is an elderly New Pocket Positive. It's an early model in 32 Colt I shoot sparingly with factory ammo when I can find it. I haven't been able to convince myself to plunge off the deep end and have reloading dies made for it. Accurate has patterns for the correct bullets, but reloading dies are an issue, as is brass. I've even kept an eye out for Ideal Tong Tools for this one, but without luck so far.

Degrease the rusty spots and apply direct steam to them with a teakettle spout for about 20 minutes, then card off the bright orange dust with 4-0 steel wool or burlap and oil it back up.
