difference between 300 BO and 300 Ham'r

I am not to interested in the 300 BO because of the lack of performance compared to my deer rifles.
I have recently learned of the 300 Ham"r an its performance being superior to my 30/30's. What are your thoughts on the subject.

Only if you believe that fast light weight bullets are better than heavy slower bullets. Broadside shots on deer at less than 100 yards is better than 30/30. Lets see what they say in 10years. But I am old curmudgeon from Missouri, show me.

The 300 Ham'r is basically the same as the 7.62x40 Wilson Tactical, that I have been working on. Body is like .004" longer than the 7.62x40.
It was designed as a cartridge for use in an AR15 that will give ballistics close to a 30-30. Limited to lighter bullets due to the short OAL to work with AR15 mags.
More power on paper than a .223 or 5.56.
Ian and Josh designed a cast bullet that Accurate molds sells as the 31-155W.
It's a wildcat, so not as much info available as other rounds.

or 110's around 2400 or so.
or a pretty fair imitation of the 30-30 with 130-150gr bullets.
I run a 165 cast bullet in mine at about 1450-1500 fps pretty easily with 9.5grs of AA#-9.

No way better than 30/30. A 41WT vs 40WT, slightly shorter neck, which is shorter than BO neck. 1:15 twist. IMHO a tweek on the 40WT which has short throat for lighter bullets. His loads use BLK powder, low pressure, kinda like LeverE for 30/30. Pushing x39 with heavier bullet. Probably as long as you can go on 223 case without trying to expand shoulder.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Okay, so what does the BO or BLK stand for? Sumthin'? Nuthin'? Bob Likes Knives?

You guys are so funny, that's why I like reading and participating in this form. It's like Gee-Hawing with my brothers.

actually it's AAC 300 BLK.
AAC is kind of a partnership with Remington company.
they use the micro 700 actions and stocks and either made or bought the barrels and built the silencers.
the 300 oddly is not the whisper it's super close, close enough they share reloading dies, but the tiny little shoulders angles are different.
the round/rifle was put together for close in military use. [you know taking out those sleeping guards quietly type stuff]

I'm shooting the 7.62x40 and very happy with it. Shoots 125 Gr. Sierra Pro Hunters or the 110 Barnes TTSX that Wilson sells into 3/4", 100 yard groups with several loads.
Only loaded AA1680 and a little 296. Waiting on a report regarding CFEBLK before I buy any.
Having a little trouble with the neck wall thickness on some PPU cases I converted. Didn't realize PPU brass was that thick.
The LC cases I used worked fine.
For hogs out of an AR15, Its a great rig.
Rifle Twist is too slow for any subsonic, suppressed work.
I've seen where people are shooting 125 Nosler Ballistic Tips, but I've been told by the Nosler people the 125 gr. Accubond ogive is too long for this cartridge. Too bad, that would be a sweet shooting bullet!

I'm in NYS, That mean no AR's unless they have 10 lbs of added on stuff to make them "un-scary" looking. No need to even worry about anything related to that platform here.

And yeah, I know, move! But my wife isn't leaving my granddaughter so here we stay.

Bret both of my BO's are bolt guns.
one is an AAC and the other is a Ruger.
I like the stock on the Ruger and the balance is a bit better, if the AAC had the suppressor it would balance better than it currently does, it's also about 3 times more accurate and has much tighter chamber tolerances.
the X40 would make a good magazine fed bolt gun caliber choice too.

To those toying with these. I see starline makes a basic case for the 223/5.56. Full straight wall case. Don't know if there is a headstamp or not.
I have seen some guys work up a rimless 357 maximum to run in the AR platform.

Starline is 20+ years late for the 223 basic for me. About a dozen of us were working on some wildcats. Some based on the "R" rimmed European case and others with the 223 and 222mag. We contacted starline, they would do it IF we paid for dies up front AND paid for up front some crazy number like 500K of brass. The dies of course became theirs no matter what. AND there was NO time frame we could lock them into. Anywhere from 1 to maybe 4 years!
Needless to say it was not pursued very far. We were actually close on money, but with no time frame to work with...........guys all agreed to drop it.

I will let others build a better mouse trap.
