Dissolving "Thread Locker"

I got my new lower front sight today for my Remington 1911 Rs.
I ordered one from Remington Online Shop back the First week of September After a few weeks of waiting I tried to check on my order and The site is closed
I contacted customer support and opened a support ticket received notice of opening the support ticket and that was the last time I heard or could contact them!
I tried to cancel the order but I can reach them!
Anyway since the are DOA I ordered one from Numrich on Monday and got it today!

Got a question Remington uses a ver small Allen head set screw on the front and back sights They must use some type of thread locker because I turned a tine Allen wrench into a pretzel and it did not budge. Since I'm not sure what the white dot insert is composed of I do not want to use heat
Any solvent dissolve this type of stuff?

Heat will make it let loose. Gentle heat and hope the old sight doesn’t have any plastic.

Sept. 10, 2021 Steve left us. You are missed.
That sounds like a good plan. Maybe have another Allen wrench to take it loose while it's still warm.

That is what I'm afraid of!

Just out of curiosity, if you phone Remington support and ask for their directions to what is a very normal activity for a gun owner - working on their sights - did they tell you their recommended procedures for removing those Allan keys?

Or just tell you "don't touch"!

Having seen the aftermath of what Remington left behind after buying and then selling Montana Rifle Company for the barrel making capability, I think I could probably make a guess at the response. Working with the carcass they left behind was a real eye opener concerning Remington - these days at least. Workers running the gun drills and reamers being told "run 'er till she breaks".

ake that twisted up wrench and heat the tip red hot. Then put the hot wrench in the screw til the wrench is cold--might take a couple tries, but this should weaken the thread lcoker.

So Simple...... This worked like a dream...... Only needed one heat!
Thank You

Rick H,
Good idea also! I did Just Jim's idea before I read yours...Same concept just a different method....Both would work !

at least you got ahold of them, I tried to contact them about 3 years back to get a part for a shotgun and none of the numbers I come up with were in service.
thankfully the smith I use for shotgun stuff is real good and he made me one.
