Excellent Day for BLL

I was cleaning around the shop this afternoon and discovered/found some cast 45's that I cast over a year ago, as well as some that I had pwd coated in the same time frame. One can of once coated with BLL and another can that needed sizing and BLL. Since the pwd coated were small in number, I went ahead and applied BLL to those as well.
Still have about 200 more to BLL and will get those done tomorrow.

I've shot these (TC) with PC and without PC + BLL and they shoot exactly like I expected them too. These are from a Lee 230gr TC mold and are Rock Stars IMO. Great for plinking!! AND the barrel after a range session usually doesn't get a bore snake treatment, but when it does it only requires one trip down the bore to get a mirror shine. A little Ballistol and she's good to go. BLL caused me to sell my Star Lube sizer and my Lyman 4500 sizer, just weren't needed any longer.

As an aside Ben, how many coats (thin) do you use on larger/heavy missiles? I have been using two but I have a suspicion that more might be better. I'm putting the coating on very thin and when they are dry it's hardly noticeable except in the lube groves.

When BLL is dry and hardly noticeable, " You're There ".
I doubt additional coats will have much of an impact on anything.

Sounds right to me Ben. On non bore riders such as some I load for my 300 Blackout get wiped off with some Mineral spirits after they are loaded and ready to go, sometimes.:D

On a side note, I load with either Green Dot, Red Dot or Herco. Have all three in quantity and although they burn dirty, I still use them almost all the time with my 45's.

I have some "older" mixed BLL that has lost some of it's volume through evaporation, how do I go about reconstituting the mixture?

I would think it's only the solvent that has evaporated, so adding back an equivalent volume of mineral spirits should work. Got a bit of liquid lube in a bottle I'm gonna try it on. GW
