Well, not quite.... was contemplating making "hang on" side boxes for the loading room Kennedy machinist chest. We have galvanized sheet metal in inventory but it sucks for painting, don't care who you are.

So riding down the road coming home from rehab this morning and this is on side of the rd. 10$... Kennedy krinkle brown... and had a 10 spot in my wallet.20181001_093959_resized.jpg

Nice cabinet, great score.
If you want to paint sheet metal, sounds like you need to have a little bit of an inventory of paintloc.

funny how when you need something other stuff suddenly just becomes parts instead of what they are.

I picked up a solid wood I piece 6'6" wide kitchen cabinet today that will make the 4 shelves I need in the storage room just by building a little 2x4 bottom stand for it, and hanging it up on the studs.
saved myself about 60-70 bucks in the process and got a stronger better looking unit too.

Yeah,it was pretty spooky.... had been looking on fleabay for anything cheap as a donor for side boxes..... just last night.

I get ideas looking at "images"... then do real time data research on the bay as a checks N balance of sorts.

Speaking of plywood and old'ish kitchen cabinet "stuff".... no comparison, how much better old plywood is than the new stuff.

yeah it is.
I messed up a couple of years back and cut up a couple of 3/4" plywood sliding doors from a closet here in the house.
I made a couple of shelves in the garage out of them, when I should have made a new reloading bench.
they do hold a tonnage of weight though.

The EPA cut the formaldehyde content of the glue down to useless levels, then made arbitrary emissions restrictions no plant could reach in 2008 and then most of the production went overseas. Remember when 3/4" cdx made a good floor on 16" centers? Now you have to double it to get 1-3/8" and then set the joists on 12" centers to take out the spring....if you can find framing lumber stiff enough. I still got half a sheet of BC that smells like longleaf pine I'm hoarding back....might make a bar top out of it or something.

Nice score on the locker, that's an in-demand item around here that easily fetches $125 even with a nice...."outdoor patina". I got friends always on the lookout for that sort if thing.

It's like a big chunk of marble, waiting to be carved into a Florence'ian statue.....

Well, that may be a bit extreme....

How about,a Hollywood based plastic surgeon, chalking out lines on his next Venus...

Nope, just get to do some measures, napkin drawings, then maybe a quick trip across drafting machine and then.... gut that thing like a hog with air shears. Will cut'r down into workable smaller panels and then squaring shear and hit the brake.... in as few of cuts as possible.

Lol, couple years back I was paid to remove 150+ lockers in great shape. I advertised them for cheap price. Gave a few away, never sold one. Took them over the local metal recyclers scale.

Snagged a school locker out of a dumpster one time on our way to work.My oldest was helping during the summer. This was 20 sumthin years ago...... he climbed over in there and stood it up,then we both lifted it into the truck. Nowadays, there's camera's, dump "technicians" and stiff penalties for dumpster diving.... so,we get to talk about the old times and scoff at all the younger folks that never learned about the fine art, haha.

I sprayed a custom mixed catalyzed enamel on the above,prepped/sanded locker to match one of our metal lathes..... it sits next to it.Filled with lubricants/chemicals used in machine shop. Wouldn't take 500$ for it.

Remember the old steel sheet metal cabinets from the 50's and 60's. Those made great storage cabinets when repurposed.

Yes sir those lockers go for $110-175 the last few auctions I have been to. Went to an auction summer before last, the folks had the whole outside walls lined with lockers and ward robes. Found out he went to a lot of government auctions. There were over fifty in the basement and close to that in the shop. I bid on several but just never did get any bought.

Two old school lockers with odds and ends of stuff. Bottom was mousey, but they were pretty solid. $7.50, now here is where ya can all beat on me. A metal box with oily rags on top of it, box was pretty full of Starrett, B&S and Lufkin. I figure in the way of $5-600 used area.
Went and looked at a drill press yesterday at an auction, talked myself out of it and came home. School district auction, knowing me I would have had to haul off a pile of chairs and filing cabinets if I had stayed.
