Take your camera to the range.
I'm VERY interested in seeing what these do " down - range ".

Nice.

What load were you using to shoot that group ?
What was the distance ?

100 yards. 24.5gr. AA5744 seated to just cover the lube groove. Sized .325". Just under 1800fps average for 15 shots.

Mauser "scout", 20.5" barrel, Caldwell fr. & rr. bags. Scope set at 4X.

This is the design that is on the group buy list at Boolits for the last 3+ years!

Similar results with H4895 and Rel7 at approx. 2000fps.

Nice shooting might be an understatement.
What barrel is on that puppy?

JW I think he said "Scope set at 4x"

Forgot to ask and ran out of BC targets what distance are the rings set apart?
Or put differently, what is the group size?
You are more than welcome to throw out the lower flier.

Dang...that is a nice rig and great shooting.
I do not agree with Ben this time.
There is something that could be changed and that is ownership.
If you send me the gun I will reimburse the shipping cost.
No!
I don't blame you.

It is great when things come together.

And keep us posted.

The 8X57 mm is a very under rated and misunderstood cartridge.
A lot of Americans once they see and " X " in a cartridge's name treat it like the plague.
Example.........6.5X55, 7X57, 8X57, etc.

Once they see an " X " in a cartridges name , Bubba says, " That's one of those foreign guns that you probably can't even get ammo for."

I'm a huge fan of the 7X57 mm and the 8X57 mm ! !

When you shoot a Mauser, shoot a Mauser cartridge.

I'm having a 6.5 x 55 built on a 98 action with a Kreiger barrel by Goodsteel.

The 6.5x55, 7x57, and the 8x57 are all under rated. Agree with Ben and the X factor in the minds of most Americans. I took my 7x57 to Africa and killed 10 head of plains game at ranges to 450yds. One of my hunting companions took his 8x57 to Africa this last year and shot numerous plains game at ranges up to the 450 yd mark. Gemsbuck , kudo, are elk size animals, and they go down with the X cartridges as well if not better than fashionable belted mags. I would not hesitate to take a 6.5x55 to Africa and shoot plains game. Actually, under rated is truly a an under statement of understanding in this day and age of belted magnumitis. Have no experience with the 9x57, but I would bet it would also be a super ctg. Just because a cartridge doesn't sound American------well you know!

I'm still amazed at the comments that I hear in gun shops ( even from the people behind the counter )........."Yea, Bubba, that is one of em' ferrin guns, probably won't even be able to get shells for it. "

Yah Ben, have heard that and variations of that off and on for many years. Like Forest said, "stupid is as stupid does!".
