First of my gun friends is on a ventilator

We all knew it was coming. The first of my gun friends is in ICU on a ventilator with the Wuhan virus. Since most are 50 + we have been texting and email each other to keep tabs. Keep your friends close as this is just the beginning.

Wishing for recovery for your friend.
I have a friend who was having respiratory problems. He has a couple of aggravating conditions and was waiting on the test results. He and his Dr. were convinced it was the Covid-19 virus. The regular flu test was negative (pre requisite for the Covid test) and he just got word he is negative for the Covid virus as well. I think the anxiety of thinking it was Covid-19 made him worse than he actually is. Evidently he has a "run of the mill" upper respiratory infection. He feels a lot better now.

I’m sorry to hear about your friend, and I hope he’ll be alright! This pandemic is ugly business. I hope we all, the artful scientists of bullet casting, get through this with our health.
Keep safe, guys. For every passing day, knowledge is building. Even if we eventually get the bug, a couple of weeks delay may mean there are useful medications to modify the course of the disease.

And that is the point of "stay at home", every week we can slow the spread the odds are better for all of us.

Prayers going out for your friend, Ric.

Some of you might remember Ammohead from The Site Prior. He and I talk a lot back and forth, and have shared a few rat hunts over the years.

He believes that he contracted this COVID-19 crud in early February, and treated it like common flu. He needed 2 days off work, and felt like warmed-over death--but managed to only lose those 2 work days. A number of the people he works with commute to and from Las Vegas weekly, and in late January Las Vegas gets utterly over-run with tourists from mainland China due to the Chinese New Year. Ammohead's work site got HAMMERED with a nasty flu bug about the same time his own developed. That's the story.

This shit is for real guys.
Praying for the best for all victims of this.

We have a good 6-8 weeks more from what I hear. That is from a very reliable source at UNMC in Omaha, a facility on the forefront of fighting this.

Both ENT offices with which I've been in confact multiple times this week are suspending most everything two full months.

That is terrible news about your friend, Ric. From what I understand the ventilator "stage" isn't a death warrant but it's definitely the final fork in the road. If they can keep his 02 up enough while his body fights the virus off he'll be fine.

Yes that is the issue now, 28 hours in ICU, blood O2 level keeps falling no matter what and kidneys are failing. Doesn't look good.

Thanks guys for all the support.

My understanding is the Virus really isn't the killer, it's the overwhelming Lower respiratory tract bacterial infection that's the coffin nail.

Yes, as the cells die in the lungs, they can not transfer O2 to the blood. Plus the normal bacteria in the body and air thrive on the dead cells. Friend not doing well.

Still praying.

I'll cop to it--this stuff scares me. I am very medically-compromised on my best day, so........
