Fixin' what Bubba did

BTW, when Bubba did his magic he also cut the stock down to 12.5" I have a ½" piece of Walnut that I've matched the outline of the base and shaped to fit flush with the butt AND a Limbsaver slip on pad to bring it out to the length that is ¼"off the OEM stock. Matches me quite well and sure makes shooting the shotgun more bearable on my reconstructed shoulder. Pop off the ½" insert and it's just right for my daughter.
All this because I didn't want to cut down the OEM stock.

LOP makes a difference.
i like 14-3/8 +/- a smidge on my shotguns, and about 13-3/4-7/8 on my rifles.
i can shoot a touch shorter shotgun [like up to 2"s shorter] no problem, but anything much longer kills me.

Well, I'm no woodworker and this patch is an aesthetic/utilitarian fix just so I can use the gun. As far as "Doctor", I could better be described as a (wood) Butcher.

Have to be honest; I found a OEM stock and bought it without hesitation and fitment is excellent. The patched stock is still mounted on the gun but I have a reserve for when I decide to sell her. I still have my original Model 12 12ga I acquired when my dad handed it down in 1962. That said, I doubt I will sell it but my Great Grandson might have the option.

Sure looks good to me from here.
Any time we can rescue a part that that saves us powder funds plus looks like it should from 5 feet is a major accomplishment.
