Know there are a lot of critics of Lee molds, I am not one of them. Think I have all of the lee 2 cav molds for 30 cal, but have a fondness for the 150, and 180. Shot the following loads yesterday at 50 yds on a high 80's day with maybe 5-8 knots of wind and a blue bird sky.

180gr Lee, Al GC's (can't remember who made them), sized .310" Ben's Red,1 coat Bll, BH 22, over 18gr 2400, (dac fill). 5ea 5 shot groups spaced about 8-10 minutes between groups. M10 Sav. Heavy BBl 308Win, 4x12 power Bushnell scope.

#1 =1.050" (pushed one just a bit, other 4 were .9"
#2 =1.40" (?)
#3 =1.0"
#4 =.975"

I believe this will be the load I will shoot for the next CBA Postal Match.

The Lee C309-150-F is a tackdriver in my CZ527 7.62x39 carbine. That particular mould is an old single cavity, and one that I won't part with. In the 308, you've discovered the sweet spot for my Ruger Gunsite Scout. 18-20gr 2400 under various bullets 160-170gr just seems to be where it wants to shoot ragged hole groups. I usually load either the C312-155-2R or the CTL312-160-2R, but the Lyman 311672 and RCBS 30-165-SIL also do very well.

I have 4x12 Bushnells on my 308 and my KHornet, and the next time I need a scope, it will llikely be another one.
Eye relief is good for me. IMO good for close in work like 50 yds, and adequate for me for pdogs out to 250-300.

Finally found a couple of pounds of 2400 at a spring gun show. Guess I should try about 18 gr in my 7.62x51.

35 shooter, In January, I put a 3-12x50 Bushnell Banner on my .270. Eye relief is listed at 75-85MM or about 3". A new listing from China on evilbay is just $39, with rings. I like the scope a lot!

Eye relief is what had me worried, but that should work on the .308. Lol it wouldn't work so well on my whelen though, but i've got it covered with the leupy.

Sounds like your doing well with the 308. Haven't hardly found time to go shooting lately.

Thanks KHornet, i may well go with a Bushnell. It's sort of between that and a sightron.

If you get a Sightron, go for an SII or better, the SI's have some of the worst glass of any modern scope I've seen. The SIIs are passable, but for less money you can buy better glass.

Personally, I run mostly Weaver scopes, newish ones. Even the $89 ones are clear edge-to-edge and are very low-strain on the eyes once you get the ocular lens focused correctly for your eyes. There's better stuff for more money, but for low-end, the bargain-line Weavers are tough to beat.

I generally gravitate towards "better" stuff, but took a chance on a Weaver Kaspa-Z 1.5-6x(China). It has a 30mm tube, 2nd focal plane, illuminated reticle, and target turrets. A 30mm tube usually gives more internal adjustment than a 1" tube, and this proved to be true. Weaver specs indicate 80min internal adjustment, but that isn't the case. Mine is more like 140min, so better for lower velocity rounds over long distances. All of that adjustment would be useless if the turret adjustments weren't repeatable, and these have proven to be. Likewise, the clarity of the glass was better than anticipated. I've found his to be an excellent scope for my 300BLK.

I also have other Weavers, all 30mm stuff, mostly low powered variables that I prefer. 1.5-4.5Classic Extreme(Japan) 2nd focal plane, illuminated reticle, and the 1.5-6x Super Slam Euro (Japan)1st focal plane, illuminated reticle (extremely sharp glass!!).

I paid $130 deivered for the Kaspa-Z, but it may now be discontinued. I just bought "the other" Kaspa 1.5-6x with Ballistic X reticle, and it was $161 delivered. Check Natchez Shooters Supply for closeout and discontinued Weavers, Burris, etc. I think I paid $229 for the Classic Extreme and $299 for the Super Slam Euro.

I really like the zeiss scopes but if I'm not spending zeiss $$$ I've been happy with several nikon. In particular the Omega 3-9x40 w/bdc is tough to beat for eBay prices. 4" of eye relief on those.
