Since I have no 7mm rifle, and too many projects/not enough time to add one, there are three 7mm moulds here in need of a new home.

--Lyman #287641. New in orange plastic box. Box is marked 7mm, Silh, GC, 160 gr. 2 cavities. $SOLD
--RCBS 7mm-168-SP. New in green plastic box. GC, 2 cavities. $SOLD.
--Ideal 285448 in orange Lyman-Ideal orange cardboad box with reinforced corners. Single cavity, GC. Small blocks, fits Lyman/Ideal small handles. Per the books, this is a 118 gr. bullet. New-ish: I've never cast with it, but I'm not the first owner. Still blue as they came from the factory then. $SOLD

I'd gladly trade for Lyman/RCBS sizing dies in .309", .310", .311", .358", .431", .432". I'm sorta looking for a GCHP mould for the 38/357, and LEE 6-cavity moulds for round ball in .457", .490".

just describing the 458.
it has three drive bands that get shorter in length from bottom to top.
a groove.[crimp kinda]
what looks like a small scraper band and a groove [same as the other only a titch smaller] in front of it.
then a rounded nose [like a 2R design]
should be designated about 118grs, and I'm just conjecturing here but I'd imagine it is slightly tapered.

Pic of 285448 found on the net:1611118660221.pngThanks to Elric for the comments on the bullet, and Fiver for the description--having never cast or shot it, I have no clue.

There's a 95 Mauser about 50 miles away that keeps whispering to me, if i don't have the moulds I'll be less tempted!

The little wedding ring is a "Kephardt Band" and it was a "scraper" [fouling was called residuum]. I don't have one at hand, so I can't tell you the band diameters, but they are a joy to load with. Lube up nice and the gas check seat works. Unike the star-crossed shank on the 410610, this one happily takes the crimp on gas czechs. The nose ogive comes out below groove diameter where it reaches the base of the nose. I was able to run this through the LAM, seat czechs, lube, and load. Because the nose is [I assume] bore diameter, it is quite forgiving as to throats and leade. BUT it might have difficulty as any short bullet might in a chamber designed for long military bullets. Note I said "might".

My 1st time to see gas checks referred to as czechs .

But you were still able to understand the context. Like a yellow colored, cherry flavored lollipop.

Like I went downstairs and sordid out some boxes of bullets...
