Fun 300 BLK Load

So I decided to load up a batch of 300 BLK to get my daughter ready for shooting deer this fall. She has done well in the past so I decided this year to get her stepped up to a centerfire.

I loaded up the Lee 312-155-2R with a charge of 6.0 gr of titegroup, this little round was surprisingly excellent. Loads from her bolt gun and red dot ran right at 2" at 100 yds. Definitely supersonic but it sounded like a throaty 22 LR. Now I got to say I was expecting a 1200ish FPS load, but I think this is moving around 1350-1400 fps, no recoil to speak of, I will take some pics this Monday/Tuesday when she makes it to the range.

I have this mold in two cavity and now a brand new six cavity. I'm looking to load some with SR4759 as I have lots of it.Looking forward to your results.

I think I have 48 lb of that powder as well, I should be using that as my plinker powder. I may try that in a few cases instead of titegroup.

Well, I just tried 15.5gr under the Lee 155gr. Compressed is an understatement. The nose was very deformed from trying to squeeze down all that bulky powder. I loaded one round and switched to IMR4227, 15.0gr.

What velocity were you trying to get from that load?
Not sure. 300BLK suggested the load with this bullet as a good starting point to work up with(IMR4227)
I just thought I'd try the 4759 because it was in the same burn rate. For one, the bulk of this powder worked against it! LOL!

Well I just got back from the range with the kiddo. Her load of 6.0 of titegroup with the lee 155 runs at 1260 FPS.

I also loaded up a batch for my shooting pleasure, 12.5 gr of Alcan 9456 (supose to be AA 5744) it suprised me at 1745 FPS and groups of 3/4" at 50 yds.
