OK! So I got way beat out on the crimp observation!!! Never seen one quite like that!
The reason would be both of the examples you've mentioned. Handloader #213 tested the amount of crimp and its effects in 45 colt with slow burning powders, from no crimp to modest and then maximum crimp. From no crimp to modest a gain of 56fps, then from no crimp to maximum a gain of 91fps. Although I haven't tested this myself with a chrono, so I'm basing it purely on the handloader test. I only use this style crimp on heavy loads, most of my shooting is done with a TL 230 tc and 8.5gr of be-86 which I seat and crimp in 1 step.I there a specific reason for the super crimp? I mean, recoil moving the bullets or trying to get a better burn?
