Gun Show purchase

I just got back from the Tulsa Gun Show .
12 hour drive for me to get home today.
I bought what I think is a nice rifle at the show on Saturday.
A custom old model Ruger 77 with a new Douglas XX stainless air guaged barrel in 7x57mm. This one has the tang safety. Brown laminate stock. Clean rifle. Got a new set of Ruger scope rings also.

Ben, the older I get I realize that the .275 Rigby will do everything I am ever going to do. That is a neat rifle. Just like the .38 Spl S&W, what more do you need?

Ben, this is what retirement is all about. Nice acquisition. Looking forward to a range report or pics of the meat it puts in your freezer.

Thanks to all for your comments !

I love my three 7X57mm rifles.
I just think it is a super balanced cartridge.
I'm at a point in my life where the 7X57mm will do any and all things that I may need from a center fire rifle.

Ben,
How true! That is one of the reasons I love to shoot cast bullets. With lower velocities they will do anything I want without punishing myself in the process. I used to want a 375 H&H mag but all the elephants in Mississippi are on private lands so I can’t hunt there.;>)

Very nice rifle and the 7x57’s long neck sure makes it cast friendly.

Same here, I've looked and looked and just can't find a wooly mammoth around here any place.

I have taken a number of big game animals in Africa and here with the
7x57. Like brother said, all of our elephants here in Ne are on private
lands or the zoo. I keep my 375H&H, but shoot nothing but cast in it.
My 7x57 77 Ruger is my go to deer rifle.

Yes its a very good looker. But why do you keep buying rifles with the bolt handle on the wrong side??:headscratch:

They're ok from the bench, you can easily watch the cartridge feed and it ejects on the side where you can catch it, but cycling from field positions is a whole other story. On the upside, there's no pesky bolt handle interfering with your trigger finger.

Sweet Rifle! And awesome caliber. One I am missing. Hard to find reasonable... And explains why you didn't take my bait on the Smith! Tulsa is on my bucket list one day!

Not a thing wrong with the " Smith Deal ".
Those are very nice guns for the money.
You'll enjoy yours.
Seems to shoot just fine for you.

Wish I could have been there to wander around the show with you Ben, just too far right now. I'm a terrible influence anyway :p

I can only imagine getting people from here together at a gun show. If I were you I’d buy that could be heard often!

I walked with Ben for a bit at the show last spring. Interesting to see what others are looking for and what draws their eye.
I was looking for a few specific revolvers or a few lever actions. Seems my eyes tend to gloss over lots of other stuff. With a show that big you don't have time to spend 3-5 minutes really looking at a table.

Still kind of amazed Ben didn't leave with that Ruger #1 in 44 mag with the really nice wood.

Glad somebody pointed out that bolt handle. I was contemplating making a trip and just plain stealing that rifle. On the other hand pilfering from a man who has a rack full of rifles probably wasn't a good plan. GW
