Gunsmith needed

Well the breech end is way different than a standard M54 or M70. Yes the 54 does have a standard mauser style extractor. There is a cutout right at the end of the barrel that the extractor uses to grab the rim of the cartridge. But there is a ring that goes around the beginning of the chamber which is where the headspace is done, plus a small cutout just outside of that ring where the nubs on the bolt go. Will have to send that along with the barrel and action so the smith has an idea of how to machine the end of the barrel. Magazine box is heavy sheet metal with two ramps one at the front the other at the rear which allows the rims to be one in front of the other to prevent rim lock. Much like a 303 enfield. two piece firing pin much like a Springfield. In fact you can use both the collar and front of a Springfield firing pin as replacements. Feed ramp has a small divider in the center weird but sure does work. Mine way made in 1928 and only slightly over 50 thousand in all calibers were made. Came D&T for both scope bases and receiver sights. Had the bolt handle altered for use with the scope. The old Winchester marksman target stock cost me $50 bucks at a gun show. Bad bedding job or poorly mixed bedding I managed to dig most of it out as it was crumbling to pieces. The Israeli MG barrel will be about the same diameter as the front receiver ring and should finish up around 21-22" long it originally is 24" with the 7.62 nato chamber. Depends on how much the smith cuts off the barrel. Bead blast and blue. Floor plate/trigger guard is a one piece stamping and the front receiver ring screw is located in a different spot than a standard M70. Frank
