Ok I Bought an 8 lb of H110.
Loaded up some 357, Fiver sent me. Old school, Speer type, half jacket hunting loads. Lost my Data and all those have been loaded up anyway.
So I still have 7-8 lbs.
I know it does not play well with reduced loads, which have been my forte'.

Have the following pistol calibers 9mm, 38-357, 380, 40 sw, 38 super (Shhhh), and hopefully coming soon ,45acp.

So just wondering what I can use it up for. What are some rounds you guys have had good results for with this powder.

your 357.
H-110 is a case full magnum only powder.
it was developed expressly for the 30 carbine

having said that I have used it in some rifle applications.
I was nervous about it the whole time but it did okay.

I HAVE HEARD OF SOME PEOPLE LOADING UP .410 LOADS. I have an old, I think ??Acme loader, in .410??that I could piece together and give it a try. Or maybe a 38 super load???
But if I am best, just loudly pushing 158- 180 grains of gas checked or pc'd lead, or jacketed bullet out a 6 inch .357.

With H-110 .Then that is what it will be , I guess.:sigh:

Fiver is right, full power loads only with H-110, it's a great powder when used correctly. I tried reducing 454 loads with it one time and while I didn't run into the reported SEE the loads wouldn't hit a barn if you standing inside it. Don't know about the .410, I've heard of it being used there but I've not gone there with it.

I really like the stuff for full house 44 mag loads. It wants to be maxed out or very close to It.
Last just I bought was 8 pounds so you know what I think.

I still have a single one pounder, I bought many many years ago. I prefer 2400, which is user friendly, for reduced magnum loadings.

H110 / W296. is more limited that 2400 and is a poor powder for reduced loads in anything. It is a great .410 powder, all the Magnum revolver cases when used at maximum or very near maximum charges. It’s also a great powder for .30 Carbine (of course) and surprisingly (to me) a great powder for .300 Blackout with cast or jacketed, sub or supersonic.

The general consensus is to not reduce loads with H110/296.
It is at it`s best in full power magnum loads 357, 44 mag, etc

I don't always load magnum cartridges, but when I do, I use Dos Equis.........NO wait, that's totally wrong. I use H110

H110 / WW296 is my go-to powder for magnum loads. In fact, It is my only powder for magnum loads. However, that is about its only use.

H110 excels for full power loads in 357 Mg, 44 Mag and back in the day, I used it with 32 H&R mag.

The vast majority of my shooting is with standard pressure loads and I've never seen a need for "reduced power" magnum loads. On those rare occasions that I am shooting magnum loads, those loads are right at the max. The warnings about not reducing H110 charge weights exist for a reason and I have learned that first hand.
About 25 years ago I attempted to down load some 357 magnum cartridges using H110. I was shooting at a Pepper Popper steel target at a moderate distance. I was missing about 50% and thought something was wrong. We had a chronograph with us and I put 6 rounds over the chronograph and got some huge spread in velocity between those rounds. I can't remember the numbers but It convinced me to never download H110.

Another option in the same range burn rate as H-110 would be N-110, a stick powder that can be reduced if desired. Also the most accurate I've ever used in 41 & 44 mag.

My only 44mag. is a rifle. I tried WW296/H110 and 2400 with cast and jacketed. The rifle likes 296/110 just under full throttle. 1650-1775fps with cast or jacketed. 240gr. Haven't been able to find the accuracy with 2400.

I've had good luck with 2400 too.
it seems to have a lower end cutoff point but does it's best about in the middle upper end of it's range.

110 is good in the 410.
I'd almost bet American money it has been used in some factory loads with red hulls and bright red A's on the box.

I think I have tried talking you into a Lever rifle before, but this sounds like the perfect excuse to purchase one.
50-100yd deer hunting.
easy to move around in the truck.
fast follow up shots.
good around the yard when people are on the lawn.

If you're seeking maximum velocities in a rimmed, straight walled, magnum handgun cartridge - H110 is impossible to beat.
And it meters perfectly through a powder measure.

Every once in a blue moon I'll hotrod 9mm and then I turn to other powders,.....from Finland.

Most of the time I'm squarely in the standard pressure range.

Now if you could just talk me wife into it.
I just got permission to get a Henry A7 at $240. Of course it cost me 400 in kitchen stuff.
Any body else have a problem with wife luxury tax being twice as much as the cost of a gun if she sees as a luxury, and not a necessity????

You have to come up with a better plan: Rotate in and out of the safe and say the one in your hand is just an old one you have had for years.....or convince her that those guns breed in that dark safe and the new offspring just happens.....it is the nature of things.

OK, those didn't work for me either, but they are worth try.

19-21.0 in a 255-265 gr Colts Ruger/Contender only load . 14.0 I think in a Speer 170 HC in 357 RIFLE , fired once Ina 6" Sec 6 . Won't do that again .
Book data is found for 460 and 300 BO .
Might be ok in medium weight 10mm or 40 but I'd look hard at data .

2400 in the 357, & 44 mag have been my go to powder for decades, like others here. But I've been moving to H110 in the 44 with the heavier bullets and the rifle loads. Still prefer 2400 for non max loads, good stuff. Also H110 in my 480 Ruger, while Power Pro 300-MP looks like it could put more zoom in the 480. Going to give it a try one day. Not sure when "one day" will get here if ever.
So Mitty to help out using your H110 my advice would be to buy or trade your way into a 44 mag and a 480 Ruger. Work out a deal with your wife, maybe a IOU plan. Run it by her and if you come out intact at the end of the day.............. your good.
