cleans up close to 50-K. [in the 308]
you'll see it start getting cleaner at 45.

works fine in the 30-30 at lower pressures though, never figured that one out, but got no problem using it there.

it's also good in the X57 and even the 358 cases.
i've shot a lot of it i the 7x57 with 139gr jacketed, and have pushed it to over 3-K in the ICL using the SC version.
I like the IMR version in the 25-06 with 100gr hornady's, but the rifle prefers RL-19 with 100gr. speer BT's just a hair more.

yep AA3100= 4831 ball powder.
i think is was also sold by Hodgdon as H-450 for a while.
the 450 can get weird at times.
it'd throw all kinds of patterns in the 7 mauser when you got anywhere close to where rl-19 or 4831 would settle down and do well.
by patterns i mean literally buckshot would equal it at 50yds. only with obnoxious recoil.

And buckshot doesn't have obnoxious recoil.

Yep, it was AA3100. And before that it was surplus called MR3100. Back in the late 80's I bought an 8 lb milk jug of it for my 25-06. A couple pounds went in that and the next 5 lbs went into 6.5 swede cases I emptied from their red vampire rounds. Very accurate but coarse and hard to chop off in measure. I got one pound left and it's going into some more swede cases. Then I will find something else. I see they have 4831 short cut. May have to try that. I would load them progressively if it would meter well.

i've been using the short cut version for shheeez,, a bunch of years now... LOL
it doesn't really meter any better or worse than the long version nor the IMR version.
it's purpose is to cram more in the cases that can take advantage of that.

it works awesome in the 7.5 swiss, and you can get an awful lot of it in the 7-ICL case.
[awful lot is over 55grs. BTW]

IMR (and other) stick powders can be a PITA in my RCBS measures. The 4831 and 4350 get the 'Spoon and trickler' regimen because of inaccuracy/inconsistency. Most of my rifle caliber J-word shooting gets done with calibers that use faster spherical powders. Other stick powders like IMRs 4198, 4895, and 3031 do need 'Cutting' by the tumbler in the RCBS measures--but they still meter very consistently.

I just adjust my Lyman 55 so the rotor is deep to minimize the width of the cutting. Just crunch away.
I found myself adjusting the slides by only moving the top most slide which put a lot more cutting edge in play. That was a pain. Then I figured it out.
Don’t get me wrong I prefer metering ball or flake.

But what happens when the power goes out ?
Like Glacier we learned "deep and narrow" 3 flips with the "settler" and crunch through it.
If I could find another 16 pounds for $200 like 4 years ago I would be all smiles.

i switch over to the old school method.
both of my reloading rooms are geared up to run during 'daylight only' type hours if necessary.

it's not necessary,
i don't need 5 rounds of 30-06, cause i already got 500 sitting there.
