Halibut Fishing in Valdez

This is a copy - link I hope anyway, it looks like it will need to be pasted in your browse bar.
This is footage of a 2 trips these folks chartered on my vessel KnightHawK in 2009. We offered a well rounded trip to experience Prince William Sound. I’m planning on trying to put together some videos of earlier fishing trips on our certified vessel KraKaDawn. If I can get those videos transferred they are wild, wild halibut fishing. These trips were 2 day overnight trips, limit was 24 fish and on one trip in particular we brought to the dock 2900 pounds of halibut. Anyway fun trips and I hope I can get them together after I get back to Alaska.

It would be nice if this link could be live, don’t know how to do that. This would come up on Bing but not google. It should be the top listing: Alaska Valdez Fishing 2009 - YouTube. I don’t know.

My son Talon is in the green sweatshirt running the gaff and harpoon and is absolutely the best deckhand going. When we work the deck together it was totally synchronization. When you have 3 or 4 fish on at a time, between 50 and 250 pounds, one on deck, another on the gaff, a third tied off on the harpoon line and a fourth stripping line and head forward to get wrapped around the anchor chain. Keeps you busy.

Thanks. Talon is a worker. Always helps when you enjoy it and your in one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been.
Thing about the Charters is your customers show up smiling, all you need to do make sure their still smiling when you stern into the slip.

Never got the chance to do any ocean fishing in the 2 years I was stationed at Elmendorf.
Went salmon fishing a few times but never any salt water fishing.
Sure does look like a good time.
And your right, it is a beautiful place.

I got to see Prince William Sound from the air several times.
Closest I got to the water itself was a TDY to Cordova for 3 days.
Didn't get to do much though.
IIRC, I was working 12 or 14 hour days during an exercise.
I was a crew chief on C-130E models.
Spent that entire 3 days turnin' and burnin' aircraft.
