We get about a dozen to 20 kids trick-or-treating each year for the past few years. These are mostly local families raising little ones, which is a good thing. One of these families lives 3 doors north of us, and their 3 stair-steps are a constant source of delight for Marie and I.

I just don't do Halloween. Period. I'm rural and no kids here but still, not what I would call a Holiday.

Our doorbell rang twice last night. The first time was just after 8 PM, and was 3 of the most adorable littles - very cute and polite!
The second time was after 9 PM and I didn't answer the door. I'm old and crotchety, and 9 PM was my personal cutoff for appropriate timing...
