Healthy Coyote population in my county (in MN)

I didn't post this in the hunting forum, as these weren't taken by cast bullet...and not by me.

Last weekend must have been perfect weather for calling in coyotes. It was sunny and 20 to 30º all weekend. Chad (a member of my sportsman's club), took these 6 coyotes during the weekend. Healthy lookin critters, aren't they.

:D I didn't mean I couldn't see the picture, was being a smart a__ and saying no they don't look very healthy in that picture. They have definitely seen better times.

I was thinking exactly the same thing Rick, they look like they suffered some very fatal lead poisoning.

Good looking coyotes. They sure aren't that pretty here. But they were killed with cast. Just at a really close distance using S&W 642 and the mihec 359-640 lg hp.

I need to get a fox pro call and get to working on them here. When we had that flood back in August they attacked my old gelding. Had to put him down.

I think the western coyotes have better color and probably bring more money than the eastern.

Here our cat meets her nemesis. These things are death on cats and nothing but trouble, I go out of my way to kill them.

Hate to see an animal suffer, but if there are insufficient numbers of predators above them in the food chain, it's our job as responsible custodians and conservationists to keep the numbers in balance.

Even here in the suburbs to San Fernando Valley, the coyotes have always been abundant.

I used to spend a lot of time on horseback in the Santa Monica Mountains and the mountains North of Simi Valley (around the "Little House on the Prairie" set). Occasionally had a good time chasing yotes down the roads and trails.

Although I've never had to go out of my way to dispatch one, when it comes down the a yote or pretty much anything else, I have a pretty little 218 bee with an original Winchester A5 scope that I believe would put a yote down humanely.

I have no problem killing every one I see. I trap all winter for them.
Those 2 above were caught right by our pasture fields. You lose any compassion for them after you find one of the sheep half eaten from there rear end and still alive.

When I moved to the country I have seen coyotes moving through my property, always grab a rifle,
but so far no luck. Our old cat wouldn't have a prayer, and although he is inside most of the time,
he likes to go out in the yard occasionally. Hard rule, overwatch with a loaded rifle, ALWAYS.

My BIL's wife in Fla yelled, screamed, threw stuff and the coyote still killed and took her cat from the
yard in front of her. After than, gun in hand, always when the cat is out in our known coyote
area. Hear them singing just over the south fence, probably no more than 100yds from house some
times, but on another's property and at night.

What does a salted winter hide bring these days?

Eastern coyote hides aren't worth anything since we quit trading with Russia.

Coyotes were caught in a dirt hole set and a compass flat set. Using MB550's

ours run a gamut of colors out here everything from a silver grey color to the gold right down to a yellow.
a lot of it has to do with their habitat.
I have seen them up at 9,000+ in the fall and clear down on the flats at about 4,500' in the grass, running through the sage brush, and every where in between.

Yup,stop what you're doing and kill them on sight seems to be the std practice here.

Hazard to guess, leastwise the ones I see,it's about 50/50 ratio of "healthy" looking specimens vs mangy.

Hard to hunt here, not enough open spaces and it's like calling a ho-bo away from a free Denny's buffet.....

Semi auto 12,with whatever size buck that holds tight patterns.Anything else is a crapshoot.
