Hi y’all

CW, I am cast mostly 9mm, 38/357 mag and 45 amp. I really don’t have a favorite mold. I use mostly Lee 6 cavity molds. I tend not to send a lot of money on molds. I mostly cast for economy. But I sure do like the looks of some of the higher quality molds. I just don’t think I would shoot enough to justify a $100+ mold.

How about you?

I shot a bunch of bullets from Lee doubles . I got an RCBS 45-200 , what a difference !

Lee at the time didn't have a .277 mould at all . I needed one and wanted a heavy 7mm too . I found a sale on a 27-130 SP and thought hey I'll do that $68 for a brand new ......... By the time I got shipping on it was $92 ........ So I went and checked out NOE for $10 more I got a 5 cav and shipping was only another 6 . Instant NOE fan boy of sorts wash , heat cycle 3x , get the timing down and you get great bullets . I won't lie the iron doubles have a better flow but the NOE is so much nicer than the Lee to work with . The 3,4,5 cav based on limited experience with like Lyman moulds are easier to work better , never mind weighing half or less .

It's hard to describe the difference in a really tangible way but if you use them you'll know and feel it .

Shameless plug , NOE has semi monthly caliber deals , holiday sales , and a forum dedicated to their lines with headings like "what would you like to see run " and group buys that will run for as few as 5 dedicated buyers for existing tooling and 10 for new designs .

And I'm the complete opposite. In my experience NOE moulds have chronic alignment pin binding problems and all of those that I have owned or borrowed cast significantly oversized. I feel the Lee commercial moulds are better quality, function better, last just as long, and your odds of getting one on size is better these days. Not to mention Lee is half the price.

The only mould maker that has batted 1000 for me has been Accurate. MP makes some fine moulds but I have had more problems with them than I haven't (mostly issues with casting the specified size or the cavities being off-center in the blocks, round bullets but binding due to deeper in one block than the other). MP has cheerfully and promptly fixed any issues I had and NOE has excellent customer service too. Lee and Lyman, not so much. Don't even waste your time or money on a Lyman mould.

RB, I am only the NOE email list. Bought their mold guide for my Lee pot and have been extremely happy with it. I would recommend it to everyone running a Lee pot.

Ian,

Thanks for making me feel better about using the Lee commercial molds.

Started out with hand me downs from my Grandfather and father. My father and I bought a few back in the late 70’s and early 80’s. I have been using them since. Couple years ago I got more and more involved. Today I have more then a few. ;)
I also love all time spent with them!!
