High school reunion

10 and 20. Just like that Springsteen song. I was drum major last two years, cross country, and debate for last three but none of the ones that showed either time did any of that. Flag girl keeps putting them together (did a good job too), but we barely knew each other. 4 of 69 to walk, small school that always struggled being 3A on the cusp of 2A. Good times then, really enjoyed high school and made the most of it. College sucked royale, all three times.

I ran with a pretty small circle of friends and they all moved away after college or have passed. My best friend moved to a Washington State.
I stayed, because all my family is here.
All of my grand parents were born within 5 miles of where I live and no one has mowed away.
I'm now the patriarch of the family (kinda scary!) My brothers are my best friends.
Mom and her sisters all had boys, no girls, so when mom goes, I guess my wife will be the matriarch.
All of the big family gatherings happen at my house every year anyway. Easter, Mothers Day Barbecue, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Sorry for the thread drift.

When I came back from Viet Nam, none of the others members of my class, all 53 of them, would talk to me. So I never went back again.

Against my better judgement, I was talked into, and went to my 10th. Same cliques. Ninety-nine percent of the attendees were people I didn't know in school, didn't know then, and still don't know. Never went to another.

Ric,
Nobody looked me up, neither. Hung round town, on 30-days leave before reporting to my next duty station, but was invisible. Weird times.

Yep, if you went to Nam, you were tainted and you were the enemy, even if you were drafted.

Was never invited to one of my high school reunions.
Like others have stated veterans were excluded especially
Vietnam vets.
Called and asked one time and was told I didn't qualify as an unwanted
Military Vet.
I guess I won in the end as all of the other Grads are now dead
most drank themselves to death!
So maybe the Military saved me

most drank themselves to death!

My wife and I have close to 20 classmates and acquaintances who died early deaths them either drugs of alcohol. Not one of our classmates and acquaintances were killed in Viet Nam, though I heard that one guy, in my class, was a helicopter pilot and was shot in the butt.

Most of the crew chiefs and gunners got (stole) an extra flax vest and folded (it three layers) under them. Officers by 1969 had armor plate seats in front. I usually sat on my steel pot on the floor.
