Longone,
Yes that is my reason also! A little 32 auto is ok with right side back carry but anything with weight I find Cross draw better

Couple of weeks ago I ordered from Tucker & Byrd in Porter, TX, a OWB holster made specifically for "cocked & locked" carry of the 1911.

For a 5-1/2" Colt SAA I've used both a conventional drop holster rig (movie cowboy type) and a cross-draw. When I was younger and a whole lot slimmer I preferred the cowboy rig. Old and fat, I now use only the cross-draw.
I'll have to get it out and check the maker.

You might want to wait until I get my holster from them. I've never ordered from them before, so can't speak for their quality. I'm hopeful that their workmanship will be excellent, as I also ordered a ranger belt at the same time. The belt is being made to my specs, so I don't expect to receive my order for another 2 to 4 weeks.

Got the cross-draw holster out and found that the seller, not maker is stamped (carved) on the back side. Seller has been out of business for several decades.

Also, just received holster and ranger belt from Tucker & Byrd. Very impressed with the belt. It was expensive, but I got what I paid for. On the holster, a bit tight, but will loosen with time. Not completely satisfied with the strap over the back of slide; a little too wide, a little too loose, snap needs to be a bit more positive. I will eventually have to fix the strap myself. This is one of those instances where the only one who can do it to my satisfaction is me.

Would I order from them again? Absolutely. Beautiful leather, beautiful workmanship, very responsive to customer queries/communication.

Esp if you are hunting. Rifle on shoulder bangs on strong side, really a pain in about 10 steps.
CD bad for concealing, but great when sitting in or on anything, and walking.
