Ah, a Deli. That explains the big smiles . . .
Sherman's Deli and Bakery has some DELICIOUS food. This is our usual stop at the end of a low desert jaunt/shooting trip. Sherm's has been a fixture in Palm Springs for decades, and opened this Palm Desert location 10-12 years ago.

I could still get down like that, given some time and much effort. And then of course there are three others there that could help me get back up. Time can sure be cruel.

Good afternoon
That is our 250 Kaw with me in my gear getting ready to run it out to the house front towards the mountain valley villages where I go one a week.
Second I am on the right with the rest of the Friday afternoon museum crew where I work on Friday afternoons when up north there. Being held by Larry in the middle is an 1819 Hall's caliber .54 our military's first breach loader.

In a past life (!) I ran about on an old Kawa 238cc Green Streak dirt bike. My moto-cross cousins called it my "Trench Digger", given their usual run of 125cc RINGDING screamers. I gave up on Donor Cycles at age 17 after a black ice-inspired faux pas on a BSA 650.

That Hall carbine is a BEAUTY.

Black ice and 2 wheelers is a very bad combination.
Halls: I got interested in them some years ago. My dad got me interested in US military pre 1899 rifles - carbines. One day the Rifleman rag arrived with the full story of Mr Hall, his rifle assembly ideas (interchangable parts) and the problems he faced at the Harper's Ferry Arsenal.
Grabbed my interest as here is the first mass produced breach loader any army adopted. So the quest began and ended about two years later.
Shoots great. Make paper cartridges and loading is fast and simple. Out to 100 yards the deep grooved barrel steers the 53 ball to the ark. Getting used to the upper pan and the eruption of the flash pan (up not to the side) takes a bit to get used to..
Still going to pop a corn cruncher first time up their during BP season.
But all the other time our local museum is one of the few to have an original unconverted Halls sitting on display.

Emmett doesn't need any Marine guards.

Notice he's even hiding the security lock, so nobody'll know the type, make and model. Smart move, Emmett!
I'll tell your boss to give you a raise.
