I recently got a 20 ga youth model shotgun for my great grandchildren.
The boy is 10 and the girl is 11.
They both got to harvest their first ruffed grouse this year.
The granddaughter got her first turkey Saturday.
Boy, was she excited.
I love shooting and hunting with the young ones....dale

Sept. 10, 2021 Steve left us. You are missed.
Sounds like a good way to start them out for a lifelong pastime.

I'm getting to the point I have as much if not more fun [pride maybe?] watching them do the things I like to do, than I have doing it.

dale2242 ,

You are investing some time that will net great returns.
We should all be making ever effort possible to get young people interested in the shooting sports.

My Grandson just turned one last month. He has a few more years to go but I'm looking forward to some trigger time in the woods with him.

We've got a couple grandchildren here and another on the way. Just got a Chipmunk .22 for the oldest, age 4. Still too big for his body but I'm looking forward to teaching him to shoot.

Got to go on my oldest Grandaughters first out of state hunt last year. She and her little brother have taken several deer on the 160 acre place they live on. She finally turned 12 and was able to get an antelope tag in Wyoming. Her, her Dad, Myself and my Son all took bucks the same day in an area a little over 3 miles square. Was quite a trip.

Well I will tell you one of my most treasure moments....Not with grandkids ( I have none) but Small game hunting with my son at age 12 years old.
I have always carried my Dad's Stevens 12 gauge double 311: that day by son had his grandad's 16 ga Harrington & Richard 16 ga Single
Well after lunch My son , Brandt asked me if we could switch guns: I was honored to oblige him carrying my Dad's double SXS
As we walked the pine low land he put out two grouse. and I saw the whole thing as he fired once then again on that pair....no score but he was psyched!
Shortly after coming out of the into a grass field I put up a Male Ring neck and scored!... while he watched! Embarrassed to say that it was my first pheasant in 40 years of hunting!
It was a proud day for both of us!
I don't believe we had any more hunting days together
He had gone his separate way
So I will remember that one
