I love that bullet. It looks great, and I suspect it will work well in your gun. Keep us posted on your results, and good luck!

The 788 is definitely the holy grail of bolt action rifles chambered in 30-30. Only problem is everyone I find has a huge price tag attached to it.
I disagree. Have you herd of the Savage super spotter? Super nice rifle. Think huge 23.
Look it up.

I have seen exactly one Savage Super Sporter in my life. It was in '06 and appeared to have spent it's entire life in the bed of a pick up filled with scrap metal and rocks. To call it "rough" was a kindness. And yes, I tried to buy it simply because it was the only one I'd ever seen. No sale! "That was my grandfathers rifle!" Huh, never find out if gramps left it in the truck bed or his G-son did.

I bet young Trevor would never treat any of Grandpa Bens rifles like that!

You can turn that feature off, CW. My Android auto-correct came up with so many ridiculous (and downright inappropriate) auto fills and corrections that I couldn't deal with it at all.

I’m hoping these groups shrink a lot on the next go around. This was new starling brass that wasn’t getting touched by my sizing due so things were pretty sloppy.
I plan to try the 30.5gr charge again. I think the rifle is wanting to shoot.
FWIW this is the best groups I have shot with this rifle so far. Including shooting Sierra jacketed bullets.

Never seen a Super Sporter in person. But too funny I ran into one on the net last night and was looking at them. IF you find one, they go for a semi-steep price.

A friend of mine has one. Beautiful bluing and very pleasant walnut. Straight with slight figure but the patina really makes for a beautiful looking rifle. It’s the same so strict ion as the 23’s meaning action and barrel are single piece of steel bolt is glass smooth and best part is this is a laser beam with his cast. It has eaten only Lino cast for more than thirty years. Knowing him it’s probably burned 10# of 2400 by now.

The Savage M20 bolt gun is nicer than the Super Sporter. A really trim little hunting rifle with a much nicer stock form. Savage made som really nice stuff and was much more a leader back in the day (1900- WW2) than now, although it's a solid player today too.
