I ordered a new mould today.

Midway USA had a Lee 452-255-RF six banger on sale for $38.69 without handles. As I was ordering a bunch of Winchester small primers anyways I threw it on. I have had trouble getting my 3rd gen SAA to throw a heavy bullet accurately so I'm a sucker for new moulds for that revolver. It shoots 230's well but nothing

that is a pretty good design.
if I ever happen to wear out my lyman 4 cavity 452664 I will most likely replace it with that LEE.
don't laugh I did wear out the 2 cav. mold and replaced it with the 4.
I was able to work the 2 cav over enough to get it back up and running but I bet it's life span is just another 10K bullets.

Holy crap, Fiver you are a caster! I have moulds that were made by Ideal that still work, they have to be darn near 100 years old and they still work. My original post got cut off some how. I meant to say my SAA won't shoot anything heavier than 230 with acceptable accuracy. Thanks

I'm doing good to keep a large cigar box full of castings for any particular cartridge. The Lee 255 RF is a good one, shoots very well in a lot of different revolvers.

I have that Lee mould. Shoots reasonably well but I have found it didn't hold up out to 100. I now use a different bullet for most of my 45 Colt shooting and it does hold up to 100.

I may need to cast some of them up and give them another go.

That bad boy is in a Lee 6 cav. Sadly the mould is getting pretty ratty and beat up. Last deer I shot was this bullet over 10.5 gr of 105 surplus powder. Runs 1250 or so in my Marlin 45 Colt CB with 24" barrel. Shoots well enough with that load to leave well enough alone.
Bullet runs close to 300 gr.
I should see if Tom can cut me a mould with similar dimensions and lines.

not commercially.
it's just that when we are shooting,,, we are shooting a lot.
I don't always have time to cast, then I don't have anything else to do so I get it done.

Brad, I don't think I could run anything that heavy in my Colt. And I don't think the fixed sight would hold out to 100! Fiver, someday I hope to have that problem.

I shoot a 45 Colt Blackhawk and a Marlin 1894. That bullet is great in both.

I need to send a sample to Tom.

Well, It showed up yesterday, I just opened it up this morning. I had too many other things going on to fire up a pot but I plan to cast a few before next weekend.
