Another quiet morning with no mosquitos or doves...
While driving in, we saw some new calves, so I kept the chicken powered nuclear fast attack Brittany with me after we set up. Belle swung out, pushing the cattle back, but four yearlings decided that they weren't going to be pushed. Belle decided her work was done and she came back.
The herd was strung out along the valley, and there were some new calves here and there. The cattle took their time wandering over the hill, but I didn't want to start a fast moving herd that the little boovers couldn't keep up with. After they swung up the trail and over the hill, I took the Brittany Spaniel for a swing behind us, then down the ridge, down into the valley, then back up to the stand.
Saw four Turkey Vultures, they have a big wingspan... Saw a small puffball, about the size of an extra large egg.
Second time out, she was working a pile of stumps and branches in the Hickories... I could hear something moving in the pile, toenails on bark. Most likely a squirrel... After a good five minutes, I broke off and swung back. She broke off after a few minutes and came back with me.
I do believe Woodcock opens up NEXT weekend.
