I'm Hoarding Powder

Glaciers

Alaska Land of the Midnight Sun
Hazmat to Alaska is expensive and a pain. So buying local is the norm. Iron & Wood had some powders for $20 a pound. I've got more powder then I know what to do with, but, I'd like to add some CFE-223 to try out, but, I can't justify spending more on powders until there's room on the shelves. At 8 to 20 grains a a time, it might take a while.

I really like CFE-223, I wouldn't mind having another jug on hand.
I haven't run it up and down the ladder like I have AA-2230, but what little I have done with it has shown it to be nice and predictable.

For the last few months this winter/spring the local Sportsman's Warehouse has had some really good prices on some of their powder and primers. I picked up 8# jugs of IMR-3031, H-322, and W231 for $149.00 each. Primers are still cheap for some reason. Just yesterday I was in there and they still had some Federal 210's and 215's, 150's and others for less than $25 a brick. I picked up some Rem large pistol (2 1/2) for $22.99 a brick. It's marked more, but on sale on their internet site and it rings up at the lower price. John G if you need any primers you might want to take a look. The powder looks like it has been rampaged over pretty bad lately but still some 8# (IMR 4350, 4064) but not on sale any more.

Fiver,
I've got 8 lbs. of CFE-223 that I haven't opened. Bought it at a gun show. The guy was out of 8 pounders, so he sold me 8, 1 pounders for the same price as the 8 pounder. I made sure they all had the same lot number.
I've been pretty happy with TAC in my .223.
I guess I need to cracking the CFE-223 open and see what it will do.
Are you using it in the .223?

nope, the 308 and the XCB.
I got so much AA-2230 and H-322 I'd probably have to shoot all of the 22 cal bullets I have, and use up the jackets and cores to make more before I got around to trying something else.
I have a LOT of 22 cal bullets.

I might maybe [shrug] maybe get a hair and try it with some 63gr. bullets I make, but it'd have to be a big success first try for me to continue exploring it there.
I must be getting old, a few years ago I would have already tried it in everything from 22 to 32 cal. until it found a permanent home.
