Douglas Gene Foster was a half-cousin, and it is my sad misfortune to never have met him. I had been in-country only 2 1/2 months when he was killed.

My older half brother was a Seabee over there.
The guys who served there have been grossly under appreciated by our society for the most part, very shameful for our country to have treared them like that.

Lost an acquaintance over there 2 weeks before he was scheduled to rotate back to "the world". Weden G. Humphrey. Shot down in a helicopter. His sister was one of my sister's best friends. They were horse people and his father, Dr. Humphrey was one of the top large animal DVMs on the west coast.
