Few more pics from Sundays hunt/trek. No deer, but had a great time.
We did have major deer problem for many years. When they first opened the park to late season anterless shotgun slugs or muzzleloader you could literally not drive through the park without almost hitting 45 deer. It was obscene, they also allow archery either sex for a period. Turkey with archery only also. Some very fond memories archery/shotgun/muzzleloader hunting with my friends & family there. They also sprout obscene #'s of morel mushrooms each spring.
The deer #'s were reduced well, then blue tongue hit. Wiped out half our deer. The numbers are rebounding but not quite problematic. When it was really bad a couple farmers up north a bit lost 30k in crops in a short time. The one guy was issued 60 depredations tags. Any legal hunter could fill them for him. It was a grand time for me. It wasn't difficult to take 20-25 deer between sept-mid January for free or very low cost. I donated over 500lbs of fresh ground venison to local homeless feeder place several times.
Speaking of barbaric. I'm shocked the name is still Indian cave & not native cave or something. We are fortunate to have a good number of public access hunting opportunities here.
I'm no Ben or JW but here's me fonepix
The look out Sunday
Proof Nebraska ain't flat.
This spot is about a mile back in there looking south down the Missouri river.
Panting at the top of the hill.
The last one here my wife wants to frame.
Hope you all enjoy them. Was a fun quick hunt get away.
