Either the powder or the baking. I haven't done a lot of testing but did check pull a couple bullets from my Socom (Longshot, plain-based PC bullets) and some of my .308 subs loaded with Titegroup and noted zero powder sticking to the paint nor any softening whatsoever, so I kind of figured most of people's problems with powder interaction boil down to lack of understanding how to achieve a proper cure...or maybe not all powders are created equal?

There are four basic kinds of PC powder if I remember correctly. Epoxy, Urethane, and Polyester and the poly powders can be made with one of two different crosslinking components (TGIC, which is really good stuff but extremely carcinogenic, and something else that the Europeans have mandated and will probably be mandated here eventually.)

I'm using Smokes black from the CB forum.
I was trying to use Longshot in a 10MM load and wound up using Blue Dot instead. Longshot and BE-86 BE-86 PC Coated 48 Hours.jpgate the begesus out of the powder coating.

Tremendous flash bloom with the Blue Dot.
I would welcome any recommendation of powders that might be better suited.
I did notice Longshot did not eat Harbor freight red quite as badly.

I got nuthin', Hawk. Seen lots of that but never experimented much myself. I did put a bullet in a pill bottle with some Titegroup nearly a year ago and it's fine. Early on I did have some Titegroup sticking to some bullets but I wasn't cooking them long enough.

I remember the discussions from earlier and I dunked my PC bullets in a pill bottle of Longshot and another with Power Pistol. No effect, not sticking. I use Smoke's copper and usually mix in some HF red (trying to get rid of the HF stuff). Wait till it wets out and set the timer for 20 min. at 400F. (checked with Taylor oven thermometer not the dial on the B&D convection oven...takes a setting of about 430).
Not sure why but gratified that I don't see any softening of the PC or sticking to bullets.
