Jacketed bullets

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Well, not all of them. It seems no one makes a 160 grain 6.5 bullet any more. I gave the "Swede" up and that was one more rationalization for doing so. I didn't get to use it anyway so it went to someone who will - and who can afford the bullets for it.

Last time I bought jacketed bullets, I was buying for significantly larger calibers than .224" for significantly less than .224" bullets cost today. I'll only ever buy jacketed in the future for my 223 Rem. utility/utility-room gun for the less brazen coyotes who stay out of the range I've test my cast guns to.

You can get the 160 Horandys still, IIRC, but you have to watch and wait to find them. It's like finding 250 Savage brass, yeah they still make it, but it's one run every 3-4 years!

We have a wonderful resource right here in Wisconsin and lucky for you guys they have a website and sell online too. Recob's Target Shop in Prairie Du Sac, WI. This family business kept their prices low throughout the shortages of a few years ago and have an excellent inventory. Powder, primers, bullets, brass, dies, shotgun supplies, ammo, it's all there. So on the rare occasion that I want jacketed bullets, (typically Hornady 50 grain little plastic tipped buggers), for my .222, I get them from Recob's while I grabbed another case of primers or jug of powder.

I find good deals on bulk Bullets from time to time at Midway, Brownell’s, and Powder Valley. Mid south is another good one.
