I have a stainless Savage 30-06 barrel that has seen better days.Bought it used back when moly coated JB's were the rage. The bore was completely fouled beyond recognition. The guy said it wouldn't shoot.Deep cleaned, much joy followed.
But, this was back when we had cheap, plentiful JB's from many sources.I found VG accuracy and terminal ballistics with Sierra GK 150's at a touch over book max of 4350.Shot a pickup load of Deer and target practice out the wazoo.I got the best out of the barrel.Recrowned it once, bout halfway.
So,does sending this...practically wore out,barrel to JES to rebore/chamber to 35 Whelen make sense?Or just buy a 200$ Shaw?This will mainly be for CB's.
Will Jes put any twist you want?Which "may" be the deciding factor over a new barrel....which is whatever twist they are.
