Keeping the wife happy

IMG_1106.JPG IMG_1105.JPG Over the holidays I was spending quite a lot of time out in the shop doing bullet casting and reloading chores. One day the wife said she wanted to spend the afternoon with me doing something she wanted to do. My wife is an artist. She wanted us to do a painting together. I thought what the heck this might be fun. So out came the oil paints and the canvas and the brushes and we found a cool Bob Ross instructional video and we did a painting together! I have to say it was a lot more fun than I thought it would be and I would be more than happy to do another one with her sometime in the future. I can always talk her into going out on the hill for some trigger time so I figure turnabout is fair play. You know the old saying, happy wife happy life.

Those are beautiful! Nice work , you could have a new career here if you work at it.

Is the scene real life or in your imagination?

Well done Waco. Did you know that a tree lives here? My wife got in trouble in a painting class for telling her professor that a tree lived there.

My wife is also an artist but far more of an art historian. This is what I have to do to keep her happy.

you have to sneak up on her and take a picture after poking her in the ribsy?
mine would kill me for stuff like that.

My oldest is a "playa" in pro art world. He graduated Savannah School of Art Design.Manages an art store in Baltimore...

Ya'll have done very well....my only suggestion would be to "network" with other artists in your area.

Keep at it!

Real nice, Waco.

Last painting the wife & I did.rps20170108_013841.jpg
This is going to be her work Truck after a bit more work. We took it on iou as part trade and began restoring it. It has cargo doors on both sides. The light blue is urethane hardened spray on Truck bed liner. Did the bumpers & entire inside floor in same but, black. It had rust holes it it before.

I can watch Bob Ross for hours on PBS.
Only painting I did was on my goose blind. I did get a lot of compliments on it. And helped paint a duck boat.

that is a good job on the van.
a pin strip to off set the edges and it would look super professional.

The wife, daughter (Brad's wife) and I are all right brained, and
have travel lust. I am a ceramic artist, the wife is a decorative
folk artist, and my ceramic decorator, and as Brad said, the daughter
is an Art History major.

No joke on Paul's ceramic works. At least 8 people got Christmas gifts made by him, from the wife & I. We were very happy to pick pieces to fit each person taste. Very good at it he is.

Thanks for the compliments on the van, it was a ton of work yet, isn't complete. There will be lettering(proly bright white) on the dark blue. It's all measured out for the lettering. Tried to cover all the high wear areas with the bed liner material. It's really close to linex or as close as I could find to spray on myself. Even coated the whole underside of the chassis since we are the rust belt here.

My aunt Margaret Meyers(rip) was a pro oil painter. She made some really extreme murals. Remember one nearly 9' tall inside a building. I'd buy up all the old saw blades ect I could find for her & thought it a major treat when she gave any back with her work on it.

I can sketch, draw, write in calligraphy, airbrush a bit but not a pro at any of it. I never was any good with oil painting scenes. Waco, you & your wife's painting is very nice & much better than my attempts ever reached. Thanks for sharing!
