No, these were not a custom build by Lee. This is a standard Lee 3-die set with a customer collet sizing die and an M-die modification.

Using the photo as a refence, I'll describe what is in the set.

Starting on the left and working to the right.

  1. Standard Lee factory crimp die, unmodified and unused.
  2. Full length sizing die. The decapping pin as been removed and an M-die slug machined to fit in its place. This die allows you to put the M-die socket in the top of the neck to accept and guide a case bullet with no lead shaving. It is superior to making the mouth into a funnel. The M-die slug is set so that there is no resizing of the case. Intent here is to save cases shot in the same rifle from being work hardened from resizing. You can remove the M-die slug and install the decapping pin to restore the die back to original.
  3. This is the standard decapping pin that was removed from the full-length resizer.
  4. Standard bullet seating die, unmodified
  5. .221 Fireball collet neck sizing die machined to now be a .218 Bee collect neck sizing die. Die has been remarked with .218 Bee over the .221 Fireball marking. This die let you simply resize the neck rather than the entire case.
The only modification that is permanent is the maching done to the .221 Fireball collet neck sizer. The others are as they left Lee except for the M-die slug replacing the decapping pin in the full-length resizer.

The 3-die set sells for $37.00 from Midway. I can't find anyone that has the collect neck sizer, not even Lee. But all their collet neck sizers are $23.00 at Brownells. So basically, $60 total. I used these for maybe a total of 50 rounds and really only used the M-die section of one die, the bullet seater and the collect sizing die.

You can't buy a .218 Bee collet neck sizer. So, I'd like to get what I have into them back out and am just throwing in the machine work for modifying the neck sizer and machining the M-die slug. But I know I won't.

So, how about $50.00 plus shipping. And yes, the dies will be in the original Lee boxes.
