Looking for Lead in Menifee Ca

Hello,

Just started casting myself and can’t afford to purchase anymore lead ready for casting from Midway. Great way to learn but now I need wheel weights. Most of the scrap yards won’t sell and seems like the tire shops won’t give me the time. I’ve tried the smaller mom and pop shops but someone is already got to their inventory. Just wanting to know if there was anyone near me that would sell some if you have an abundance. Thanks

Lead is all over the place. Plumbers and roofers often have access to scrap lead. General contractors doing medical building remodeling often pull lead out of old x-ray facilities. Isotopes used to treat cancer are shipped in lead containers, if you know someone at one of the facilities that uses these isotopes, they may give you the lead for free. Lead boat keels are another source of lead. Thrift stores/marine recycling shops will sometimes have buckets full of old broken fishing weights. Range lead can often be scrounged from popular shooting range/berms on National Forest/BLM land.

Spend a little time on the phone making some calls, you might be surprised by how much lead you end up with.

"OK, OK, I'm going as fast as I don't want to go!"
I don't get down to Temecula much anymore or I would bring you a dozen or so 1lb ingots.

If you get up to the Antelope Valley or Mojave, let me know.

midway is ridiculously over priced even for that 5/5 they got.
you don't need all that stuff in your alloy.
shoot for something simple like 1% tin and 2-3% antimony that's about what 85% of us here use for about 85% of our shooting.

if you can scrounge up nuthin but pure or near pure lead a big bar of super hard or super tough from roto metals will mix in easy enough and get you a nice alloy without any drama.
