I have a couple moulds from Steve too, iirc he was selling for his friend's widow. Miss the hell out if him too, good man he was.
It’s funny how things come up, I was going through all my moulds a couple nights ago, and looking through I have a handful I bought from Mr. Steve, so I have had him on my mind last couple of days. It actually worked out where I was up close to his home and I made a trip over to pick up the molds. I sat and talked with him and his wife for a couple of hours, truly good people. I was digging through the box of stuff I had purchased and there was one extra in there, it was a 311-466 that has been hollow pointed. He told me to see if I could do anything with it that it never cast well for him, so he just decided to throw it in and let me try it. I can’t get it to do well either, the noses just won’t fill out. Think the pin needs to be reformed slightly, anyway. I’ll never sell that one. As I was leaving Mr. Steve said let’s run down to the barn a minute. We went to the barn and he gave me dang near 80 pounds of clean COWW in 1 pound ingots. I’m still using some of that alloy today.
Ian, you and Mitty are right, he is missed.
