I'm buying a new one tomorrow. 5"https://www.bing.com/images/search?...494377F&selectedIndex=2&ajaxhist=0&ajaxserp=0
Gonna order dies(not sure on brand yet) and order 500 Starline cases.
I have ZERO experience loading 10mm. I need a good mold to work with the 1911. I need to know what powders you guys would suggest.
Accurate will be the mold maker and my dies will be used in a Dillon 550. I'd love any help or input you guys could give me.

bout anything around the 800-X/STEEL speed zone will do a good job at the upper end of things.
i'd be fairly inclined to use a Gas check at those speeds though.

most any mold you choose will work at the 40 short level, i use a 200gr. RNFP meant for the 38-40 in the SIL's it feeds perfectly, and is the most accurate bullet we've found in his gun.

Not looking to hot rod this thing as of now. Just looking for a good bullet design of plain base that will work in the 1911.

Order it/them tonight, more than likely you will have the package on Monday or Tuesday.
Take your pick 135gr-200gr, HP, TC, RN, slick, 2, 4, or 6 cav. Just like Lay's potato chips, no one can eat/have just one.

Been shooting 10mm since my first Delta Elite in 1987. Love the caliber. Today & 6-7 mor other 10mm later I still love it!!

Plinking bullet its mighty hard ta beat LEE 402-175 TC in a 6 cav. Makes short work & produces a bullet I shoot @ 900 & 1400 fps shooting equal well. Bunch I like allot for other purposes like MP 200g & 160 hp molds.

Powders, aa7, hs6, longshot, Blue dot, 800x. Couple years ago I tried Power Pistol. Today I use BlueDot & Power Pistol. Its so forgiving & can produce top velocity if you have that need. Buts equally good at a regular loading.
Beware 800x. Its great but very touchy & 10ths are diss between excellent & over pressure.

Good luck

I have a bunch of 10mm molds. Id be happy ta supply ya with some samples if you like to try before ya buy.

I have a few more since this video. ❤️

Hope you like it. I have had a 10 since colt came out the Delta (4 now).Just about any top end 40S&W load in 10mm cases work for me with acceptable accuracy. Blue dot and power pistol are what I use these days. blue dot gets better accuracy at the higher velocities for me with the heavier bullets. Power Pistol I tend to prefer with the lighterbullets. The 135-145 grainers have always been tougher for me to get the accuracy that want. Hope this helps and ENJOY.

I've been extremely happy with the molds I've obtained from Accurate. I think that's a solid choice. That leaves mold material, number of cavities, bullet weight, and bullet profile; for your mold decisions.

Mold material (iron, brass, aluminum) is a topic all to itself. That ground has been covered before and I'll leave that alone.
Number of cavities - For handgun bullets, I like 4 cavity molds, YMMV
Bullet weight for 10mm, I don't have a lot of time in grade with 10mm but I have a little. 180 grains seem to be about the sweet spot.
Profile - Truncated cone is a very universal profile when it comes to pistols (as opposed to revolvers) and gives you a flat nose. Good feeding and functioning with a flat nose.

As for dies in a Dillon 550, Lots of good choice available here. I routinely mix and match dies in a 550 toolhead. There's no need for the dies to all be the same brand in the tool head.

The sizing/decapping die (station 1) needs to be a carbide die unless you just like lubing cases. A generous radius on the die mouth helps with the operation of the press. There are plenty of choices here. RCBS, Redding and of course Dillon's own dies come to mind.

The powder through die is a Dillon die with an expander in it. (Station 2) That expander really should be one of the custom expanders with the Lyman Type "M" profile. There are a few choices, but this is one place where Dillon fails. The Dillon expanders produce a flare on the case mouth, not a step. And the Dillon expanders do not expand the neck adequately for a cast bullet. IMO

The seating die (station 3) is not critical, but the nose of the seating stem should be compatible with your bullet nose. The stem on the new style Dillon dies can be removed and cleaned without disturbing the die setting. That’s a nice feature.

The crimping die (station 4) needs to be a taper crimp for 10mm Auto. Lots of choices here. I like Redding. It’s pricy but it is a 1-time cost. Frankly, just about any brand will work and again, Dillon may be the simplest/cheapest choice here.

I bought this same gun,a year ago,or so.
2100 bullets threw it,and its never leaded.very nice barrell.
Very tight tolerances, and as a result,it shoots really well.
No doubt about it,the mp mold is most accurate.cant remember the number, but it makes 158 gr,as a hollowpoint. This is the most accurate bullet in my gun,by far.and, its most accurate load,is a full charge of aa7,that goes 1450 fps.

Also, that bull barrell helps tame the recoil, smart idea!

Not an Accurate mould but NOE's 200 flat nose, I use it with Accurate #9 powder, but I would like to find some Blue Dot eventually. The number 9 powder and NOE bullet work well in my 10mm 1911's.

I shoot the 40-160H in 40sw (XD& PX4) with no problems, PC'd or BLL'd. Meplat is a little larger on mine but feeds fine. If I did over, I'd make it a stepped vs flat base and reduce LG depth 10 thou. I've pushed to 1k fps no problem. Don't need the deep LG but the 'space' keeps friction down. If you look at 31-168C you see what I did for the base - makes culling and seating easier and works fine in PB rifle.

Yes,,9 is really nice for the 200.i think 2400 is the best, for me.they say its to slow, but it will do 1250fps with that 200,tight groups,to boot!
