Muzzle Brakes

I have 2 Mosin Nagant Sporters with muzzle brakes that I built to shoot Jacketed bullets.
They were junkers when I started so no loss.
I would like to shoot cast in them but have been told that the brakes are a no-no with cast.
Met a shooter at the range last Monday that told me to bore them out at least 40 thousanths
over bullet size and they would be ok.
If I bore them out will they still work with jacketed bullets?

You might lose a teensy bit of efficiency if you bore them out a little but honestly I'd just 'choot 'em. Will you see powdered bullet metal deposits on the baffles? Absolutely you will. Is it a big deal? No.

Shouldn't be much problem. Might get lead deposits that need to be chipped/scraped out
every so often. I shot many thousands of rounds thru compensators on two 1911 custom pistols,
and the lead built up some, but I would occasionally dig it out. No big deal.
